I watched this video this morning before work. I found it startling to say the least. When they reached the bit about the baby I was near tears. Quite a shock and a message that I think people need to hear. However, if they tried to show it in this country, people would be up in arms over it.

One of the musician's blogs I read regularly(Bif Naked),had a link to that. It was kind of shocking but I remember watching films like that in high school (don't drink and drive/driver safety films) that were worse.

Yep that sucks. Here it's texto but same about drinking, doing races on public roads ("race" is maybe a big word but you know what I mean) or even doing other very stupid stuff while driving like "oooo look I can drive without my both hands". If you don't think about your life at least think about the life of others.

I found the baby part very shocking and disturbing as well but I think its needed to realy bring the point home to people that taking your mind off the road can not only ruin your life.

I still remember in driving class the photos of the decapitated motercycle driver.

i'm glad they made this a shock type psa

unfortunately in the UK, our younger generation are so self obsessed (the world outside their direct view does not exist etc) that they can be very, very stupid and risk a lot of lives by making stupid, silly mistakes such as txt'ing while driving (our drink driving psa adverts are just as shocking).

thanks for posting x, any extra exposure outside the UK will be a bonus for this type of psa

Which is one of the reasons that being spotted by the police using your cell phone, while driving, face a £60 fine, and 3 points on their license (of a maximum 12 points before disqualification)

Driving without due care and attention... (can even be applied if you are messing around with a car-radio)

If one is too dumb to pay attention to the road and the world around you while driving, you probably shouldn't be on the road at all, and maybe not even out in public unsupervised. Sadly, this is something that many fail to understand, which is why these types of infomercials pop up.

Shocking? Not to me, really. Having been the first person to arrive at a head-to-head accident with two fatalities, where the guy that survived was brought up on charges for manslaughter after admitting fiddling with his cellphone while doing 120kph, these types of vids aren't shocking.

The reality is, quite honestly, far far worse.

They recently passed a law here (as within the last year) that makes it illegal to drive while using a cell phone unless you have a head set or one of those wireless ear pieces. However, that doesn't stop people from using the damn things. Personally, I hate cell phones and will likely never own one.

Any kind of distraction shouldn't be permitted while driving. Eating (I don't eat while driving at all. If I get take out, I wait until I get home or sit and eat it in the car), cell phones, reading a newspaper (WTF?), applying makeup in the mirror, etc. I don't understand how people can be so careless. There's a commercial for MADD about a guy that's leaving a party and he goes for his keys. Obviously he's drunk. He turns around and they change the scene and he's holding a gun and waving that around. Effectively that commercial is right. If you're driving impared (whether drunk, high, or just not paying attention) you're driving a weapon.
Oh FAILblog, how you brighten my life at work

Graphic...and I hope it works but the only problem is as far as advertising is concerned it really doesn't leave them anywhere to go.
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.
