For Anarchy Online players by Anarchy Online players

I was thinking about this the other day. I was wondering if GSP is still for AO players by AO players. Alot of your DJs have made it known that they don't play anymore. What I loved about GSP is that it was by AO players. Like I could actually run into a DJ in borealis and go on a mission togethor. Knowing that most of them down play puts a big divide between us and them.

GSP DJs don't play AO? News to me. Course the official guys will chime in, but if you got that impression I think it's mostly wrong. Some of them don't really play alot I don't think by way of leveling tons and especially on the DJ chars, but doesn't mean when not DJing or attending others shows on their DJ char they aren't playing on alts you don't know about.

Yeah I'm not sure where you heard that GSP DJ's "don't play AO anymore", because that's simply not true.

We do take breaks from time to time because most of us have been playing AO for years, but none of us have outright QUIT AO...and if someone did, they probably wouldn't stay a GSP DJ for very long.

So while I can't speak for everyone beyond that, I can say that I still play AO just about every day. :) The real question being: are we playing with our DJ characters?

Some do once in a while, some (like me) do very very rarely. I have alts, I have fun. :)

wtb knowledge of Tarryk's alts. pst.

No seriously though, I know several of the DJs that do level on a regular basis. Just not with their DJ characters as Tk said.

Look at Chai for instance. And Narcotic. They both have alts that they play religiously. Just don't play often on their DJ toons. Pretty sure Foxy is the same way.

Yes! Even the great jaded Lauri still plays AO, you just won't see her levelling her Keeper(DJ). :)

excerpt from the tattered journal found by natives...

"Day 31: Have trekked far into the jungle and the mountainside has grown extremely steep. About a week ago witnessed a russling in the trees as I was making my way through the underbrush. This coincided with a shrill sort of half yell half growl coming from that direction. I was able to find a few faint tracks but lost the trail after a few meters. No more tracks have been found, though obvious signs that something has been foraging for food are evident. I'm confident I'm on the right path and can only pray to the gods that I will be successful in my hunt for The Great Jaded Lauri."

For that matter...I don't level on my GSP Dancer toon.

I have two other characters I level with. One at lvl 24, the other at lvl 34. I just don't level on my Dancer...too much gimphood there :P

I admit that I haven't done much levelling in some time, but hell...I've been playing for years. I think I deserve a break. ;) Besides, I still pwn people at Deca's bar brawl from time to time. That's playing! :D

Actually, I've had the urge to break out my sexy Asian gal fixer for some levels, but haven't found the time yet.

You know, taking a look at this question and comming from recently conventions, I wonder what is actually playing. is it just leveling or interating with the social environment that you are in.

If it is lvling, when your right, only a portion of GSP only play. But if it is interatving with the social environment (an environment that includes leveling as a part of its social norm) then yes everyonein GridStream plays the game because we all interact with everyone in Anarchy Online in some level. At least 1 DJ is at another DJ's party. I know I am, or I try to be!

Could be both of those, in my opinion. This is a roleplaying game after all. No matter if you are out playing whack-a-mob, hanging out with other players or even just tradeskilling, you are playing the game how it was intended to be played.

I got me a 208 agent, 200 NT, 56 shade and a 75 enforcer oh and we can't forget about lil meenstreek, he's terminal lvl 1 ;). I play each one of them from time to time. And like most DJ's we have been playing for over 3 or 4 (4 in my case and some others) years. I'm at the point where I can get a character from level 1 to 200 in about 3 weeks with very decent armor and weapons. So I'm pretty much played out for a little bit... I'm sure I'll get back on the band-wagon soon ;).

Hmm , Seems like most of them was hardcore players at one time, But everyone slows down on the power lvling after time no matter who you are.

I think I'm pretty qualified to answer this one!

It really depends on your perspective of what playing AO really is. If playing AO to you means putting on a level... then its fair to say a good bit of the DJ's don't meet the criteria. If playing AO to you means logging in, checking on your friends and guildmates, having interest and concern over the community, and try to do something to make everyone else truley get more out of thier gaming time spent playing... then they all pass inspection with flying colors.

Any asshat can level a toon, but it takes a special type of gamer that can log in and add to the quality of everyone elses gaming experience... often at the cost of the quality of thier own. At any rate, there is your answer... from a third party who knows, and doesnt care what people think. 8)
