Postby Jugsmalone » Fri Aug 19, 2005 9:36 am

OK I have this pet peeve ... Why dont Men put the damn toilet seat down.. This freeking anoys the hel out of me.. After not haveing a man in the house for 3 yrs now I have gotten use to the seat always being down so is it a wonder that in the midddle of the night half asleep no light on that i would fall ass first into the freeking toilet because someOne left the toilet seat up.. Well to say the least He wont be doing that again soon..430 am half sleep walk to the bathroom sit and icy cold water hits my ass as i fall into the toilet wondering wtf as the shock wakes me up... I go to my daughters room flip on the lights and toss a bucket of water on her Male house guest... WTF he shouts exactly I say as I storm out of the bedroom.... Why cant men put down the seat DAMN :x

Hrm... I know it's supposed to be common courtesy... But why should it be our responsibility to leave the seat down, instead of yours to check before planting your ass?

It's a Paradox O_O

Spoken like a man who is not sharing a bed with a female.

While I "check before backing that thing in", there are times... those mostly asleep but on my feet times... when the gaurd is down and it's those times I'm damned grateful that MY man has the consideration to drop the seat.

And yes... long, long ago, when I had a less considerate man, my backside did indeed slip in and make contact with toilet water (shudder!). Vindictive bitch that I am, I dried it on 'his' towel, making good on a cautionary promise I'd made him the week before after getting tired of repeatedly asking him to use good bathroom ettiquette.

Jairyn, do yourself a favor, just say 'yes dear' and remember to put the frickin seat down. It's indeed a paradox, but it's one accomodation you should make. There are other fronts to make custard's last stand.

You know what I can't stand? Why can't women leave the damn seat up?! It's just plain aggrivating. The other morning I get up, and I'm groggy as I usually am first thing in the morning, and I wish for nothing more than to urinate. I stumble my way into the bathroom and aim and shoot, but I'm aiming for the bowl, not the bullseye center of it, so I end up getting splashback from the seat and effectively peeing on myself AND on the seat, initiating a toilent-cleansing ritual that wouldn't have been necessary if the woman in the household would understand that the seat needs to be put up when they're done.

I HATE that, but women just never think that there are MEN in the house and we need the DAMN SEAT UP!!

Er, just a thought. :P

You guys have it all wrong. What you all need is a dog that drinks out of the toilet to teach ALL of you that you should put the LID (not just the seat) on the toilet down after you use it! That way everyone has to put the same amount of effort into it. Besides, it's the proper etiquette anyway. There's a reason the toilet has a lid!

I agree with that completely, and I put the whole lid down every time. I was just offering a counterpoint to the urban myth that women are somehow beyond the obligation to LOOK where they're about to sit. :)

ya know, there is also the variant of everyone using the toilet sitting,
reduces the amount of toilet cleaning per year quite a lot.

You know I've learned to put the seat down now... why you ask? Well in my household, there was a time where the women kept the seat up after they did their thing, don't aks, I don't even know. All I know is that Nexy has wet ass... and I hate wet ass... well wet toilet ass that is but most other wet ass is uncomfortable at that.

So yeah, seat goes down even if it's up and if it's up it stays that way until I put it down or until someone has wet ass.

All of this talk about ass makes me a) feel like one b) want to ride some... I've always wanted to take a donkey ride through some of the mountains

I got up (sleepwalking is the current theory) and peed in the litterbox one night.

Needless to say, I had three very pissed off cats, as I almost filled the thing to the brim

I always put the seat down. Why, you ask? Well, my parents have raised me well; and by that I mean, I share a bathroom with my ...sister... :x

I have to put the lid down here at my mom's house. Why? The cat's try to pee in the toilet. I am serious. They try to sit and pee and use the toilet like a person. They often missed, however, and got it on the toilet seat, so I finally had to start putting the lid down.

Have it occurred to anyone that its even possible for sleepy MEN to need to "back into" "the thing", and mess up? Think its more than one who have done that.

<--- among others.

Ladies, heres a solution.

Put a bar over the toilet, such that it doesn't get in your way, but the seat cannot be entirely lifted, and if not held it will fall down. Then, if the man forgets to put it back down, it just falls, and holding it up while doing your business isn't much hassle.

I actually think Foxy has about the best solution on this thing. However, to put my 2 cents in on this whole thing, I believe that men should be responsible to put the seat down. Why? We all need to sit at some point. Men are the only ones, however, who require the seat to be up (which always amazes me with as big of an opening as you're given already, that's still not big enough for you to aim into that you need the extra space provided by putting the seat up, but, whatever). Anyway, it is to no one's benefit to always have the seat up, but since we all have to sit at some point, it is to everyone's benefit to put it down.

Should women look before sitting? Perhaps. However, the falling in generally occurs in the middle of the night. In which case, one might require the light being on in order to see if the seat is up or down (because it's also not something you really want to reach down and feel for). I, personally, don't really relish turning on the light in the middle of the night.

Anyway, its been my experience that men seem to have a habit of having one hand...er...tending to their business, and the other holding the seat anyway. So in that case, setting it back down again isn't really such a big deal. In my opinion anyway.

Of course this whole thing could be solved if men could somehow simply learn how to aim well enough to not have to require the seat up in the first place.

Either that or separate bathrooms. :)

Yeah, that is quite true that us women aren't the only ones who can suffer from the seat being up. You guys sometimes have to sit too after all. ;) I agree with the whole lid down thing. It looks a lot more tidy anyway and worse thing that happens is you end up sitting onto the lid, not into the toilet. :P Really, the big difference that causes us women to fall into the toilet over men peeing on it is that you guys are facing twords it while we face away. Making it a lot more commen not to notice. haha I'm just lucky I have my toilets adjusted so the water level is low or I'd feel the sting of cold water at least once a year. lol
