Yeah, so why u dont make them actual contests. atleast put a tiny bit of trivia or something. Or u could get smart and do fun stuff like put 10 million on a leet and tell everyone to go leet hunting, but thats best for events not regular DJing. Also item prices is more fun than cash, even if u only get cash as donation u could shop some items and give those out instead.

Um, how long have you been listening to GSP? We do trivia type contests and other types of contests all the time. Foxy did a slew of them earlier today...of the trivia variety. YOU try DJ'ing for two years and manage to keep coming up with creative contests. LOL It's not easy.

If you look, you'll see another contest right here on the forums...(hint, hint)

Oh, and regarding your comment about items...that's actually not as good an idea. Here's why...

Most items are class/faction/level specific. I keep backpacks full of stuff and try to give out items that I think someone can use, but the actual number of items that are universally interesting as prizes is very short.

and the trivia is usually very easy/googable.

Unfortunately, difficult trivia(and even some average trivia) doesn't attract many listeners. Now, it doesn't matter why - it's just reality. Unless presented during peak hours, we wouldn't get too many participants. Sometimes it's hard to give away prizes, it seems.

I don't think making it very difficult on average is really a prime idea. Though, hey, we might save a lot of cash that way... but that's not what it's all about, huh?

Right, that must be because we're hoarding credits because we have that many "more important" things to spend them on.

Dude, you're complaining like we're a business that's holding out on you. We're not. We have a limited supply of prize cash (that's donated from awesome players who would rather support us than complain about us), so we give it out equally and fairly. And the ONLY way that we've found to be universally fair, after over 3 years of tests and trials on different contests, is to offer everyone the same chance at winning via lottery-style gridbot contests, and we DO occasionally make them trivia and/or event contests, and they are occasionally for more than just credits. Sometimes we make it a mild competition, sometimes not, but it's always fair to everyone participating.

So if you're so blind with greed that you have the audacity to come to this forum and patronize us with a semantic debate on the meaning of the word "contest", and then complain about something that's A) free, and B) performed by volunteer hobbyists who work WAY too much for zero pay to have to deal with that kind of attitude, then perhaps you would be so kind as to supply us with several hundred million credits and/or a working model for fair redistribution and we'll honestly and openly consider it.

Until then, semantics and your criticism of "Yeah, so why u dont make them actual contests" doesn't get "u" much farther than directly under our skin.

And when all is said and done, there is one thing you mentioned that we still don't do very often due to lack of manpower & resources: treasure hunts. And it's something you might see more of in the future.

But you certainly could have gone about suggesting it in a slightly more tactful fashion.

I can see how this suggestion was made to improve how we run our contests, and I appreciate the sentiment but it was an ill-informed one.

1) You suggest we have contests, and we point out that we do. In particular, we have quite a few trivia contests, and the 'Match the DJ" contests are not easily google-able.

2) Criticizing the trivia contests we do have as being "easy to google" is pretty pointless. If someone knows how to use a search engine, there's very little you can't answer.

3) There's not a radio station anywhere that doesn't have "If you're our 33rd caller you win BlahdyBlah tickets!" When we have "send a tell to gridbot with the word BlahdyBlah", that's exactly what we're doing. It just doesn't require you to grab the telephone and punch in the number and keep hitting redial.

4) Veldron covered very well why we give cash and not items. However, I have seen the DJs give items (generally social clothes, and fun stuff) fairly frequently.

Criticism is welcome here, we give it, we get it, and we use what we can to make this station a better one. We need to be careful not to get too defensive about folks giving us criticism, but at the same time, as a listener, if you're going to give us criticism, make it an informed educated suggestion.

the rotten fish comment was a comparison, i didnt call the contests rotten, thus, your other statements are INVALIDATED. But I'll answer them anyways:
1) I already said contests and money is not my thing.
2) Making them fewer with more money isnt gonna cost u any money.
3) Trivia contests are fair, everyone got the same chances.
4) It is free, that doesn't mean it cant be improved.

1) I listen to GSP fairly much and Ive heard like 3-4 trivia contests. They were all easy.
2) No, u could come up with things not googable, as the "what ring gives +2 to all" however, that was easy too look up on auno.org, but mainly anarchy online stuff, that cant be googled.

2) Yes, but fewer contests with more money doesn't serve to distribute the money to more of the citizens of Rubi-Ka. More contests for smaller amounts means more people have a chance to get something, rather than a select few people getting very lucky.
3) Again, we have trivia contests, often. But trivia isn't always fair, because they're often biased based on Geographical location, cultural knowledge, etc. Face it, most of the DJs are American, and many of our listeners are not.
4) Sure, offer us a suggestion that would improve the current way we do things, and we're happy to listen.
5) Neither has any of your criticism.

7) ConstruCtive criticism requires a fundamental knowledge of how the system works to begin with. Uneducated and deaf criticism is not constructive, and doesn't serve to help improve the system at all.
