Once again, proof that the big ad agencies are clueless...

Hm... let's fabricate a "metal" band to sell our new chicken fries. People are sheep, if we go all MTV on them they'll be powerless to resist...

www.coqroq.com

Nice site, so I tip my hat to the designer/developers (the Subservient Chicken guys). The campaign itself, however, is horrifically bad and doomed to fall flat on it's face. Be sure to watch the "party" video... Also note that the "stage" section is mysteriously scratched out and inaccessable. Gee, I wonder what that tells us...

WTF are they thinking??

Burger King is crazy. This is why they are awesome.

Chicken freedom fries. Whoa, what will they come up with next?

EDIT:

In order to be more politically conscious, I have decided to retract my comment about Chicken french fries, and instead call them by a more respectable name more in line with our white house. Hail Bush, light so bright, so I can't see later when you do bad things in the night.

Good question, Decavolt. I've been wondering this same thing about Burger King for some time now (since the introduction of "The King"). I think the symbolism here is abundently obvious considering the name of the song, "Bob Your Head", the name of the "band", and the video showing guys suggestively feeding chicken fries to bimbettes. I don't have anything against sex in advertising. Sex sells. That's a pretty universal truth. But there is a really huge creep factor in using sex to sell deep-fried chicken bits*. Even without the creep factor, it's still unbelievably inappropriate. But after the guy waking up in bed with "The King", nothing that Burger King does surprises me.

*Just a note - The video has zero sex appeal, but clearly they are "surreptitiously" using sexual symbolism.

I loved the guy sleeping with Burger King. I mean that image is just wrong! And here they put it on TV promoting their restaurants. Maybe it was tailored to the gay community, but I kinda doubt it. Was their message "If you like our food, here's something else you'll love"

I think Zephem's right in that BK's marketing department (or more likely, the ad firm they hired) is just fuckin nuts. The goal should be to sell more product with advertising, not totally creep out their customer base. Altough there's always the "any publicity is good publicity" school of thought... so who the hell knows. I, for one, wouldn't even touch one of those chicken fries with Zephem's dick and Gridfan pushing thanks to these ads.

Speaking of Burger King. i read a bit today about a new chain of fast food restaraunts opening in France.

BKM or Beurger King Muslim

It seems to be offering good jobs to areas with a high youth/muslim population. The female employees are allowed to wear their traditional veils {which has been outlawed in public schools} And the meat is all Halaal, prepared according to muslim ritual {like Kosher?}. And apparently the spelling of Beurger is a pun, since Beur is a term used for second generation Africand living in France.

This all just struck me as funny and interesting. And it is true there are a lot of Africans here, Turkish too! i was flirted by a Zulu the other day in a Hypermarket, funny we both spoke little French, he spoke little english and laughed that i didnt speak Zulu =)
