Okay, yes, I'm a geek.. and I'm an IRC freak... one day in one of the channels I visit regularly, someone asked a computer-related question that some of you highly computer literate people might also get a chuckle out of...:

<Soandso1> Can you think of any reason why my PC's computer clock is running slow?
<Soandso2> Your battery sucks.
<Soandso1> It's a computer, not a wristwatch.
<Soandso2> "My car won't start!" "Did you put the key in the ignition?" "It's a car, not a house!"

well, actually, if he always takes of the computer from thr powerline the system clock IS supplied by that small battery on the mainboard.
If that battery runs dry you system might not boot again.

But he probably meant something else.

Yes, hehe.

But he didn't actually know about the CMOS battery at all. ;)

I can't even count the amount of times I've wanted to tell the person at the other end of the phone to unplug everything, put it all back in the box, and ship it back to the manufacturer with a note that says "1 D 10 T Error, do not return to consumer."
