Missed this in my email until just now. Wasn't sure if you guys were aware of it:

Yep. It's mostly a matter of making sure as many can tune in as possible, as I was told. We have more than our share of exclusive prizes to give away. ;)

MMORadio is a commercial internet station directed towards "general" MMO gamer groups. As such they will be catering more towards the brand-new and haven't-tried-it-yet AO crowd. Prizes will probably be available there to match the demographic as such.

We will be running the "veteran AO party" so to speak, for existing players (unless of course they choose to party with MMORadio, all is well either way). Prizes will definitely be set to match the demographic on our end. :)

::trying not to sling mud::

Well after all - GSP is devoted to AO 24/7 - while they are merely saying "We are paying attention to you today"

Yeah! That's their strength but also their wekaness!
They can do "flavour of the week" focus. (would love to see GSP do that but. nah not our style)
Also, unlike us, MMORadio are in it for the money. (they are commercial afterall)
So if a game is no longer popular, or very unpopular a season,
they will most likely not cover it at all without some "incentive".

Now with GSP, we are here as you said, 24/7, all year round.
For as long as AO is alive, regardess of wether AO is popular or not,
wether it is the MMO flavour of the month or not.
We are here, so when the world and the media lets you down.
Turn to GSP, at least we do our damn best not to let you down.
And for free, weeee!

I had some fecker listening to my show yesterday who kept requesting cheesy pop which I do not play and when I turned down his fifth request he says "Shove this, I'm off to listen to MMORadio"....

o.O

SoSound had nothing but excellent passovers with GSP when changing Dimensions. On the other hand, MMOradio harrased us like a dehydrated Rollerrat. IMHO, bad move on FC's part to have those assmonkeys from MMOradio around at all. Aside from the spam happy MMOradios' presence, it was a great weekend. I, for one, doesnt want to see another Leet Key or Luxury Apt Key for as long as I live :)

Why Funcom found the need to bring a commercial radiostation into the 4 year anniversary is beyond me. I'm pretty sure that 95% of the listener-population was either tuned into GSP or SoSound. Wouldn't be suprised if some were tuned into both :P

The 2nd or 3rd post nailed it. The MMO radio people were broadcasting the party as an advertisement for AO to people who aren't playing the game yet, people who started following MMORPG's after AO launch, those who have preconceptions due to the awful launch, etc. I have no way of knowing the exact number but I'd be willing to bet that over 95% of the listeners for GSP are current or former players.

That might be so, but I still don't like it if they drove GSP/SoSound away. Might just be me, though *shrugs*

Heh, sorry, but if it isn't homegrown, it's not a voice of RubiKa. MMOradio can take a hike.

Hell, I listen to GSP while I'm dancing in Mos Eisley.

If that doesn't speak volumes, then you've got to be deaf.

I guess if it helps Funcom pay the bills a bit I understand getting those guys in the picture. And especially when it comes to the 4th Anniversary, it makes it easier to draw attention so that maybe they can bring in more paying customers. But considering that everyone in GSP & SoS (far as I know) are already loyal paying customers it'd be nice if they treated those folks with respect. Can you petition people from MMO Radio?

Ok, I was away on the weekend so I missed the whole thing. Was it really that bad?

Well I'm the wrong one to ask. I never tuned into those guys & had no clue where any of them mighta been on planet. I just was tuned into GSP most of the weekend. Just going off the reports of others. Besides, if they pissed of Otori they get my bad wishes as a default!

/sarcasm on And you know me, I'm REAL hard to piss off  /sarcasm off

Not speaking for GSP of course. But I purposely asked Rowenael to start extra early on Sunday (he's European timezone, so that's a little easier), and the MMOradio guys just walzted in to the GDF after Row had been there for an hour and started spamming away. Row just moved downstairs rather than starting anything....can't say I would have done the same thing, but that's just me. Overall I think usual listeners know that we and GSP are just players too, so they stayed faithful. I would say that the majoirty of the MMOradio listeners were the froobs that showed up just for them being there.

One pretty funny moment was when an IRRK Reporter came down to the fireplace room after we got ran off the GDF and humbly asked "Why aren't you guys upstairs??" I just laughed and gave up at that point...lol
