Tarryk - I was wondering:

She (the baby) is being kept in an incubator (or whatever you call those things) and is in relatively stable condition, but it's these first 48 hours that will tell the tale on it's survival. She (my coworker) is in good condition but will be laid out for quite some time

How are mom and baby?

I wouldn't have been able to tell you until about 5 minutes ago. Update as of "yesterday afternoon":

Trinity (baby) is off the respirator and breathing on her own. This is invariably a good thing, so hopes are high.

Angela (mom) isn't doing so hot. She's got an infection of some sort, and I think the doctor's guessed something akin to anemia might be involved as well. She's medicated and too groggy to carry on much of a conversation. Further updates as events progress.

Very good news about the baby. It wasn't so many years ago when a baby that young would've had virtually no chance. Be it medical science, devine intervention, or some of both, it's truely an amazing thing.

I hope that things go well for the mom. Having a baby is incredibly demanding physically and I can only assume that there was something amiss which caused the early labor. I'm sure the docs will get her all patched up soon enough.

Thanks for the update!
