Could just be me, but I completely fail to see what the war has to do with this.

Not everything has something to do with the war in Iraq.

Kudos to the author of this for not calling the kid a "goth" like the other one I read, they just hint at it saying he wore black a lot, because it would make the actions sooo much different if he favored lime green. Same old 5hit though, bullied kid with access to weapons gets tired of harassment and decides to strike back the only way he can think of. Gotta love the guns everywhere ideas of the U.S. *pulls out her die kliene nadel* these are so much more fun though!

I want to see a kid in GAP clothing kill a bunch of other students and teachers with a spork. Now that would be amusing and original at least. Well I don't really want to hear about it, especially after saying that 'cause I'd feel responsible... but it would be amusing to hear though. "students describe the attacker as a 'popular' kid with involved parents and a cheerleader girlfriend."

The kid was trying to be a member of the national socialists, and he was vocal about that being his political orientation in school. He was a suspect when a bomb threat went into the school, because of this fact. He was indian, but he viewed Hitler to be a hero and posted a few times over on the nazi.net website.

The war on terror is a war on an idea. We all know how well wars on ideas have worked in the past (drugs).

The war against kids and keeping them safe, well... I'm afraid of that. The more government control of them in school, the worse this will be in the long run.

Nothing against parents or anything, but I would feel this to be more of a failure on the part of his teachers and parents. They seemed to all know about his ideas, why didn't they take that extra step and talk to him about it and figure out why he thought that way and teach him that he's a stupid young kid and he doesn't know anything, and he needs to watch and learn.

Nexeus mentioned the war, I was just confused as to what it had to do with this case.

He didn't mention "the" war, he said a "new" war. :)

I, too, am awaiting the "Abercrombie Killer". Maybe we can have some kid in black save the day for a change.

Everything that happens bad in the world is called a war, war against crack, war against drugs, war against drunk driving, war in Iraq, war against terroism, war against homelessness... well we are going to have to wadge a new "war", and that's against students.

Edit: yes I did put an anti-iraq war thing at the end, but it was more like "Hey, we have stuff to deal with, when kids are shooting other kids!". So no more talk of Iraq, lets focus on the kids!
