Goodbye EQ!

With a big BIG flip of the finger to Sony Online Entertainment today, after 6 years of some seriously terribly customer service, the loss (in 2000 and again in 2002) of my characters with *no compensation*...

I CANCELLED MY EVERQUEST ACCOUNT TODAY.

I thought I'd be sad about this, but I'm really not. I'm quite... elated. For 6 years I fought, grinded, got involved in the politics of one guild after another. I was a "hard core raider" and for a couple years now, logging in was something I dreaded more than enjoyed. A game shouldn't do that.

I want to thank some of the folks from GSP for being supportive of my newfound freedom from EQ and for giving me something fun and social to do without the pressures of raiding. You can look for FoxyJama at the shows this week and if she has a little bounce in her step you guys are the reason!

I brought about 5 of my closest friends from EQ, and they're having a blast in AO, too. We're really the ultimate newbies, but learning about the game together has really been a lot of fun. You should hear us on Teamspeak: "Drewwe! I found out you can do this "list mode" thing with your backpacks!" "SWEET!" "Oh! And you can rename them" "What?! You have BACKPACKS? Man!"

Congratulations! I know it can be hard to hit that cancel button on something that becomes such an ingrained party of your life.

I hope you and your friends continue to enjoy AO! :)

Hahahahahahahahaha

Hey, I'll be around randomly this week (for buissness and all) and I do randomly go out missioning, and I love showing new people the game, so if you ever want to, I'm right 'ere.

Mistyped like a true DJ.

And Nexeus, that'd be awesome. If you happen to see any "Minions of None" tags, those are my boys. Some of them came over from EQ, and a couple others came over from Tribes 2. Be kind, everyone wearing that tag is still a newbie, although some of us play (alot) more than others. :)

Now, to figure out how to make clicksaver work...

LOL That's what I get for trying to type before I've had my coffee. ;)

Lleanna, I used to run an org that was focused on helping those whom were new to the game of Anarchy Online, this won't be any different, and trust me I'm very kind.... when I'm not trying to pimp them to Atroxes or something....

What's list mode? :o

Click on the "i" in the upper left hand corner of your backpacks or other menus, and you get a drop down menu where you can choose "List mode" "Rename" and a variety of other "arrange" sort features that make buying, selling, and general organization a cinch!

By far my best discovery in AO to date. But I've only been around a couple weeks, so there's going to be more, I'm sure.

All I get is Autofade Window and Close Window. :(

Do you need an expansion or something?

No, that little "I" icon should be there on all windows, and it should give you a list mode, expansion or not. So I'm not sure what the prob is there, Dray.

As for Lleanna, you've discovered the true way to ultimately enjoy AO in those first stages of learning: with a group of friends. Each discovery becomes a group discovery, and the sharing of knowledge helps everyone learn and appreciate the game faster and happier. :)

Don't forget to stop and smell the roses now and again. Hint: The Rising Sun is a beautiful place to chill out for a while. :)

Nope, I'm a froobie account. Maybe you need to click and hold, or right click? I'm at work, or I'd check to see and tell you. Don't be afraid to play around with it some. Oh, and are you trying this on an open backpack, and clicking the "i" in the corner?

Wanna know a secret? That option on backpacks & trade windows and wherever else it is in game only materialized recently in AO. It's a great thing that we've been waiting for a long time. Just don't try and rename a backpack "This will explode in 2 seconds", hand it to your friend & expect any reaction as the names are client-side only so your friend will only see "Small Backpack"

That's it. I was clicking the I on the info window. :P

Group of friends sounds interesting. What's that like? I joined AO when some friends decided to give it a try, then they all left after a couple of days. :P

Yeah, I learned the hard way that all the backpack names are saved client side. I got on my hubby's computer and organized everything, naming all my backpacks stuff like "Monster Parts QL 1-40" and stuff. I thought I was all slick and organized, and then I logged onto my computer...

I'm going to revert back to my former method of organizing by naming all of my backpacks "Random Shit from a Mission" and "Upgrades and Nanocrystals or Something" and "I Don't Know What this Stuff Is".

You should see my CD collections. I think I'd make all the DJ's cringe with my CD's marked "Photoshop Textures, Beatles Music, and Porn" and "Random Files from March 1999" and "Unsorted Crap from September 2004" ... and those are just the 3 I have on my desk right now...

My attempts to keep things organized have all failed, so I've decided to embrace the chaos.
