Merry Christmas From Cox Communications! (OMG Pist!!)

All of you oldtimers here know the absolute nightmare my ISP, Cox Communications gives me for the unreal amount of money I pay them. Well they just gave us another big FU for Christmas.

Cox Communications's midwest implemented some new network protocols on their routers that blew all MMO gamers off their games a couple of weeks back. Their midwestern customer base went apeshit over this. Well they just did the same lousy crap to we, their eastern US users. That's right. Cam and I are officially stranded off our respective gameworlds now.

As if unstable connectivity, crappy peering and ghetto network weren't bad enough product to push on customers who have no other real choices but dialup... let's take away their ability to game online as well! Their amazingly effed up protocols could be better coded by a troupe of marginally retarded chimpanzees.

If they treat us the way they've treated the midwest, I have no idea how long I'll be offworld. Cam's on the phone with the morons they employ as techsupport trying to arguing them into acknowledging there's even been a change on their network and that there is a network outage...

And I'm in tears, unable to get on for the VE party, wondering how long it will be until I can come back.

Merry Fucking Christmas, from Cox.

Cox - The sound effect I mentally hear as a direct result of a collective company choke hold. All you have to do is put some nects in those hands, and squeeeeeze. ;-)

I guess this is beyond being able to be resolved with circus peanuts, huh? :( Sorry, Boo. Wish there was something I could say to make you feel better, but I'm a complete non-techie type. Spreadsheet problem? I'm your girl. How to get around a crappy ISP so you can still come play in our sandbox? I have no clue.

I hope they get this resolved quickly and I hope you don't let it ruin your holiday.

*calls the shipping company to send a whole truckload of circus peanuts to her Booness and Cam*

sucks...but then it's cox...

sadly reminds me of working at another giant cable company's tech center, techsupport trying to arguing them into acknowledging there's even been a change on their network, we would come in to work and somewhere higher up would change something in the network and not tell us anything. After receiving numerous calls we would get in an uproar and be all over the network center until they told us wtf they did so we could try to find a remedy for it. and yes, in a 3 tier support system, tier 2 is comprised of competent employees where the other tiers are indeed run by marginally retarded chimpanzees.

I'm a Midwest Cox customer, and have been for 4 years. I've heard your gripes with Cox before Bootay, but I have never had any major issues. The occasional ups and downs, but never anything as major as not being able to play an online game, and trust me I strain my bandwidth to the hilt, and it's been rock solid 99% of the time. I feel for ya, but I've not heard hardly any complaints in my area :(

otori, you are one of the special few... enjoy it, i do!
so many people have so many problems with my aforementioned ex-employer but i've had the connection at several residences and have never had a problem. *crosses fingers* sure i know everything i could about troubleshooting loss of connection from them, but why would i want to. ^^
