NEW YORK - More than 20 ABC affiliates around the country have announced that they won’t take part in the network’s Veterans Day airing of “Saving Private Ryan,” saying the acclaimed film’s violence and language could draw sanctions from the Federal Communications Commission.

Now this is funny. I had thought if a channel offered disclaimers and warnings, they would be able to show this, and any number of other movies. Not that they would be sued.

This isn't American Pie, or Texas Chainsaw Massacares, the movie is a very moving and powerful movie directed by Steven Spielberg (Who apparently, rightfully, does not want the movie to be edited in any way.)and is being shown to honor our veterans, not glorify death or gore.

How about editing the news? That information about suicde bombers, beheadings, and violence is FAR too violent for our virgin little ears...I can see the concealing of information just as atrocious as concealing freedom's once enjoyed.

Never thought we'd start losing them because some woman flashed off a breast.

It's kinda funny the trend this way after the Janet incident. And yet for anyone with cable, notice that recently Comedy Central has been airing uncensored movies like the South Park movie & coming up Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back late nights on Saturdays? I mean in this day and age most folks have cable, so at least that is a step in the right direction.

Well yeah, but lets say you were going to do a study of how many people had cable versus not having it. And lets say your plan was to go door to door asking "Do you have cable?" and if they said "Well no sir, I do not have cable access in my domicile! Good day Sir!" you did nothing and went to the next house, but if the response was "I have craploads of digital cable running to 7 rooms in my House of Tomorrow, thank you very much for making me miss 3 minutes of my favorite Jeffersons episode! Good day Sir!" you went and ate a double cheeseburger with bacon - after about half a block you'd have changed your religion to bulimia...

You know what I find funny? That something so innocent like a BOOB (and not even a pretty one) can create such an insane overreaction. I mean....haven't just about EVERYONE seen a boob? Heck, as a baby, you get one stuck in your mouth to suck on every time you're hungry (happens a lot). And yes, I do know it happened during the superbowl halftime-show, but I STILL can't bend my mind around why people went so insanely ballistic about it.
