For the Newly?

Postby Mumon » Fri Sep 03, 2004 4:07 am

Does anyone know what AI has to offer to the Newly after they leave the training grounds? Sure they can go over to Miir and get an outfit, but if they realy are a newly they likely don't have the money to get one unless they happened to have won a GSP contest or have a friend that can give them some extra money.

Sure IF they preordered the game, they can get a Leet pet and they can use that around level 10 or so.

But what is there to do for that person that didn't preorder the game (or already has there leet), and doesn't have a Uber cash with there guy that got out of basic training?

I know I could ask this question over on the Funcom forums, but my questions never seem to get answered by that croud over there. (I ask questions of the people I like, and I like you guys. I don't know those guys on those forums)

(Edit add: And they just had to go and fix my head... mutter mutter)

Well, to be honest, it's the same as before AI. AI is mainly an org thing and you really cannot use most of it's functions properly without belonging to an org.

It's a little stupid that ALL the land is so expensive, because small orgs are left with no towns.

That aside, there are some new quests and NPC's about with interesting jobs. So for a newcommer, do the subway, talk to the guy located not far from it and get your quests goin. I always found they were the best way to begin any game. Just keep in mind, some of these new quests seem to favour fixers. And especially those with F'grid. It saves you a lot of time if you have that. And a sub quest or three...

All in all, AI is a social expansion, and as such, to a newcommer, it doesn't really present much new. :?

Yeah the cities & aliens are the biggest part of this expansion. Now you can still participate, cause it's not like you can only attack the aliens if you are a member of the guild that owns the city. So get with some folks ya know and try and scare up some alien beasties. Also there is the social clothing, but that's sorta tough for new players to get, somewhat cause of the annoying quests they'd have to complete, but also because the clothing kits cost a little bit.

Of course I must say when you take 1 part SL and 1 part AI, mix lightly... put into pan of Fixer... bake for 10 levels... let cool...

Wait scratch that last part, don't let this fixer cool down, he can now Solo most the subway and take on 3 guys all 6 to 7 levels higher than him.

By level 15 he'll be able to get his first AI perk (2 if he spent a bit more time in the new Training Grounds) allowing him to get a perk that gives a special attack that does a good 400 damage (and with that energy gun that one puts togeather from the SL training grounds even at QL 7) makes it very easy to get to the very last room of the Subway and servive.

I don't think it'll be long before he's kicked out of the subway as being just to hot to handle.

Things that I'm only just now starting to look for replacements of... (Names are just guesses as I try to pull these from memory)

QL7 Gun Energy SMG from SL's do it yourself kit
Full set of QL15 Omni Recruit Armor from AI training grounds.

The rest that he is equiped with (like his Fixer thing-amambob that you make from a Nano-Programing unit and a lock pick) I'm not even looking for replacements for sence they are still very useful to me.

I realy do like that Alien perk though (Though it's usefulness does seem to be doing down, but there might be things I'm not taking into account) with it's 90 second recharge.
