Am I dreaming...

...or is this a pretty damn smooth launch for a major AO expansion?

Mumon found his head. It's kind of weird looking now.

I'm liking the new interface a lot more. There's still room for improvement, though. I'd like the health/nano and xp bars to go horizontal as well, so it could increase the possibilities of the layout. It'd be great if the little icons at the top of your screen when you target something would be movable as well. The docking thing is cool, but it'd be great if it went to the left side as well.

I haven't encountered any aliens yet, and haven't checked out the land areas. I know the leets were bugged though, not sure about if anything was done to address those problems.

The newbie area is pretty cool, although the vendor is pretty far off, but considering the setting that's understandable.

Other than those few minor things, it seems to be going pretty swell. I honestly was about to petition because I wasn't experiencing lag. Most of the time the game is pretty laggy for me, but for some reasy last night I didn't have much at all.

I made a stupid mistake and bought the expansion on the website on accident, submitted a web form on the site to customer service, and I'm still waiting on a response about that so I can get the charge taken off and plug in my code. Don't hit the button, even if it's shiny.

I dislike the new interface... That whole blue thing is NOT working for me...
I find the backpacks a pain in the butt, as every single one has to be positioned... Independantly... Also, I miss the "Escape" function, to close all windows...

The "Philip Ross" event thing was a joke to say the least... That was an imbarassment to FC and it was NOT thought very thuroughly through...
One zone crashed, and people were kicked of server ALL the time... And for what, a 2 min speech?

That aside... This upgrade is a joygasm! Total joygasm! The new intro is VERY Doom 3'ish, only with no monsters... If they'd added some monsters there... It'd not only be UBER sweet... But totally kick ass! Imagine the intro being a little mission, with NPC's and what not... That would be SO awesomme! Oh well, this is rather cool too tho...

I find the 30 min recast on leets a bit much... And you can't buff them, so leet fights are pretty one sided... Which ever Leet hits first wins... But they are bugged, so that might all change! ^^

A few new quests have been added, including one for the subway folks. And also, to anyone who undergoes Uncle Bazzits quest... Be prepared... You're in for a LONG ride, so bring a yalm. Also, if you're clan, you'll need to track down a Commander in Omni-Trade... He ran when he saw me, so I didn't manage to tag him... Be prepared. Very fun tho! ^^

All in all, major w00tage to this upgrade!

And I suggest we do a Leet KO, ladder competition... Winner get's a prize or som'n! ^^

Well I had little time to play last night - much of what I know was from beta, but I doubt that much has been altered.

The new opening is quite nice. And even if there isn't a small mission-type thingee to start it out, it still does a good job of throwing the new storyline in front of your face and make you take notice. The new BY/Island area is OK, though I could complain that A) the only two pad quests there are for sided pads that neuts can't wear and B) It seemed very unintuative to me, the whole area seemed designed to confuse you. Maybe I didn't spend enough time there, but anytime I got walking around in the center it all looked the same and I had no idea which direction I might need ta go for which NPC or small area. Maybe they fleshed it out a bit now. Will try a new alt soon.

Haven't fought any aliens yet on live so not sure yet how that will be. But the real pluses in this thing for me are from it's origins. This was the expansion oroginally, loosely titled something like "Towns of Rubi-Ka" or posibly "gardens of Rubi-Ka" if my memory serves. The player cities are such a cool thing. The system for how they were set up and then the land grab might have been done a bit differently, but I guess since my guild and our partner guild next to us got land I'm not on possibly the short end of the stick in that category and hence my outlook may be cheerier than others. Personally instead of defining the size of each area and consequently the cost I think they could have let you decide the size and the cost then be based on that, but oh well.

And social clothing. I and at least a few folks in my guild are so happy to see all this new clothing. Yes, you gotta do a few quests just to get even 1 piece, but that kinda makes it even more special than if you just went to a shop and picked out 17 outfits for a few credz.

Player shops when they get em working will also be a grand thing. My bank is a big crowded mess of stuff I'd sell if I could find the 7 hours a day it'd take to keep up with all that. When I can drop it in a shop for sale, that will free up so much room for all the new social clothing

edit: Oh, almost forgot that though I didn't have much time last night in AO:AI I did complete the quests to at least get my first Firefighters vest - still so damn proud about that, well not completing the quest, the FC putting our name on the Firefighter clothing :D

Launch has been quite smooth, One or two patches, but Things went quite well, i'd say.
