A Word About Morality

Oh.
My.
GAWD!!!!!

I want to have the author's mutant offspring....

Since the dawn of consciousness, humanity has struggled with determining exactly which forms of behavior are most amenable to the success of each individual. To this end, moral guidelines are chosen that are supposed to govern human interaction within a society, as well as between differing societies. Also, these are the rules under which any individual may attempt to better his or her place within a society. Depending upon the culture and the time period, morals have been used to suppress as well as uplift individuals. In this sense, morality is a subjective term that is defined by each individual as they pursue a "righteous" life. Some may believe altruism to be the way to a perfect life, while others seek gain only for themselves. Those in power have quite often promoted one sort of ethical life in the populace, while following a different form of virtuous behavior themselves. They will insist that the governed eschew violence and murder, but use such tactics to further their own ends. They consider lying and theft to be crimes, but lie and steal to keep themselves ahead of the pack. What such people see as "right" is their own success at the expense of others.

Forge on? I highly reccommend it.

ok, every other thread is locked so maybe I can chime in here? lol The title seems to fit and the forementioned quote is a good start as well. lol

I can not even tell you how many forums I have been moderator of. IT is a tough as hell job to make everyone happy. On that note I must say thank you. I have had a nice time here so far!!!

I do have one question though because it did raise an eyebrow when I fist read it. I am refering to the statement that this forum is PG-13. My question is similar to what was stated on another thread. Why is it that the forum is PG-13 but the station is not? I am not arguing with this rule in any way, shape, or form. I am just curious.

TY.

PS, I am planning to shrink my sig but have been too lazy to do so yet. lol. I drew it about 3 years ago. lol

As for the PG-13 forum & the 18 and above station I can only guess off basic info, so here it goes...

PG-13 forums - They are on the internet proper where everyone & anyone in the whole world can access them. The 6-year old on a computer in Korea can browse these forums

18+ Station - Well I think AO is technically 13 and up, so possibly due to the Shoutcast system? Anyway they almost always play the disclaimer before they start the racy stuff on the station.

Now somebody can correct me...

Hmm, maybe I should put a disclaimer before I post anything. That would be a good idea. I've done it before, because I was afraid of corrupting the little kiddies. It's kind of hard not to talk about tipping the cows and influence them to do the same. Although, some of those weird little nut jobs went a step further. But we won't talk about that today kids.

Seriously though, I try to follow the rules as best as I can. I am a guest here, and so is everyone who is not a moderator or member of GSP. They want to change the rules? That's fine. It's not right to start making civil rights and free speech posts, etc. When you enter a forum, you're not entering America. This is GSP Island. It floats with cute little dolphins that pop up in the ocean off the shore and they smile and wave their flippers and go back in the water. That's what kind of place the GSP forums are. Yes, I'm sure of it. Anyway, if a sig is too big, no big deal. Take it away, and be done with it. No reason to get huffy.....

Wait, what was I talking about again...

Okay I think I've said enough for now. I think you get what I mean. Yah, probably. If not like, read it again or something.

Back to the original topic of conversation...

It's really quite a fine example of human nature this quote brings up.

Which is "Do as I say, not as I do, or I'll be out of a job"

Kings, Presidents, and corporate leaders have been following this 'unwritten law' for centuries on end, with great success, freeing themselves of moral or ethical restriction by placing that mantle on subordinates.

Thanks, Boo... You've given me another insight to add to my collection of "Things I know that have been said better than my own words allow"

If you are refering to the PG13 (COPPA) thing at registration. That is default/builtin to PHPBB the bulletin board itself btw.
