All I will say is

1 : I really doublt they get to sleep with the rifle under their pillow.

2: While they and their friends may one day take over a mall ,

3: It is very unlikly they will have any gun accidents

4: All Swiss must as in MUST keep weapons in their homes,
the Swiss have very few gun accidents ,(I doubt the kids get to play
with the guns in their homes )

5. GUNS and KIDS do not mix !!!!, Toy guns should be BANNED out & out.
There is no right to keep and bare toy guns. Teach them guns are real
and deadly , keep away from them and treat them all as loaded at all
times.

Children SHOULD have toy guns... If they're never allowed to play, what will theyre angle on war and death be?
Laughing at something is the best and safest way to learn about it... You take it as serious as anyone else, but you get to ask question and experience sides of it without it actually being dangerous... No one is stupid enough to believe it isn't a bad thing, but telling them "it's bad" and then banning guns, violent movies and I don't know what will only backfire... It's only human to want to learn, if we know it's there, and we don't know anytihng about it, we'll experiment with it, it's instincs.

If you can learn through play, you learn the safe way... Wait till you're 20 and playing is no longer what you do, so the odds of trying out the real thing instead is suddenly bigger... Over protection is what started all this crap anyway.

Back when boys where expected to get in fights as kids, they werent troubled in the same degree... Peeps learned. Of course there were arseholes who didn't, there always will be, but the masses learned from childhood the diff between fiction and reality. Don't underestimate the mind of a kid. They're not stupid you know...

And finally, if you can't accept fictional violence... Or guns... Or death...
Then what on earth are you doing playing AO?!
Safety is a good thing, but paranoia kills.

i figured i should list the actual rules of firearms when weilding any type of weapon. yes, like i said im for right to bear arms, which yea, means i own a few ^^; that doesnt mean i think kids should have guns obviously. they are designed to kill, they are not toys. ok, with that said, heres the actual rules:

1) every weapon has the potential to be loaded and should be concidederd loaded and extremly dangerous at all times.

2) do NOT point a weapon in the direction of any people unless you have the intention to fire the weapon at said people.

3) when held and not in check, a weapon should be facing the ground, NEVER HELD IN FRONT NOR IN THE AIR. there should be at most a 25% angle from chest to firearm so that it does not have a reach on people around you.

4) the finger should NEVER touch the trigger unless you have intention to fire the weapon. your trigger finger should be kept above the trigger, along the side guard. this, in combination with keeping the weapon facing the ground, is known as keeping the weapon "in check".

5) the safety of a weapon should be on at all times unless you have the intention to fire the weapon. at this, the safety is the last step in fireing the weapon. untill you fire the weapon, safety stays on.

6) the magazine (or ammunition if it is a singleshot weapon or a tubular loaded weapon) should be taken out of the weapon unless you intend to fire the weapon.

7) when placing a semi-auntomatic self loading pistol in storage, the magazine should be taken out as well as the slide be removed to insure safety. the safety should be on as well. when storing a tubular weapon such as a shotgun, the ammunition should be removed as well as the barrel. safety goes on. when storing a bolt action rifle, ammunition should be removed as well as the bolt. safety on. when storing a magazine fed rifle, the magazine should be removed, the vent pulled open, the safety on, and a trigger lock as these are the most dangerous weapons.

and thats basicly it. these are the rules you need to know if you own a weapon. a gun is not a toy. it never will be. like i said: they are made with the intention to kill.

there are ratings on the box of EVERY game. it ranges from EC (Early Childhood) to A (Adults).

if a kid plays a violent video game (like the number one enemy of liberman and congress [even after all these years]: DOOM) its not the game company's fault. no way. its the parrents fault for not looking on the back of the box and seeing the little box which says "VIOLENCE, GORE" and the big assed "M" for Mature rating. im sick of these parents claiming to have good intentions for thier kids when they dont even check ratings. its like taking your kid to a R rated movie called "super freaky sex world". you wouldnt do that would you?

I was shooting when I was 6 years old.Somehow I grew up without killing anyone or shooting up my classmates.I also grew up with a REAL respect for what guns can do.
I know its cliche' now but the truth usually is.It is not the guns that kill people but the one behind the trigger.

I was raised around guns my whole life, and taught to respect them. Preventing children from playing with a toy gun or playing a video game isn't going to help. Parenting will.

yea sure, but question: would you really give a 3 year old an automatic weapon? really, think about it. shes so small taht she needs 2 fingers to pull the triger. would you REALLY give a child who cant even do a simple division problem a device designed to end life? its like giving charles manson a nuke. its just stupid. you can teach kids about weapons, yuo can tell them about weapons and show them about weapons, but you dont give them the weapons, because in the end, they are kids and they always will be.

I don't know wether to pity the ignorance, or be scared of it...
I've played with toy guns my whole life, I never drew anything that didn't involve deadly machines of war. I never played a computer game where the power to kill wasn't involved and I never... EVER played good...
Likewise, I have never started a fight in my life. I have an airsoft PSG-1 sniper rifle, and yet, somehow, I never went out and killed anyone.

At first I was going to debate this with you, but it's rather obviuos that you're oppinions are not based on facts, but personal belief. When you don't use facts to argue with, but emotion, an argument is impossible, because there can never be a counter agrument to "I think". Ergo, this whole thread is never going to lead anywhere.

We have one person who thinks kids will go homecidal when they play with toy guns. And we have a forum full of people who claim that they never really killed anyone. This didn't change the beliefs for one second, so we've gotten no where.

And Clock, 7 year old kids are not smarter than anyone else. Kids are kids, let them play, they won't have a gun before they're old enough to know what the hell it is anyway. This is where paranting comes in. Banning everything or putting it off-limits never raised a kid.
Letting them encounter everything and guiding them through it is what molds them. Not "DO NOT TOUCH" signs over big red buttons!

[NB] Just for the record, this isn't a personal attack, I don't mind you people at all. But I don't believe you should tiptoe around people in case you might say something less nice just because all have to be cheery. I'm not bashing, simply arguing. I have before rubbed people the wrong way here because they took it personal. It is not you, but your statement I cannot accept.
