whats the point of life? (not suicidal)

not anything suicidal, but just a simple question.
Whats the point of living live when the present is constantly becoming something that no longer exists (the past) and becoming the future in the same T minus infinity interval forever making its way smaller and smaller in the spectrum of time that moves infinatly in the past already at 99% progress.
us humans can only live in the present but we like to dwell in dimensions we whizzed by at speed of present to past/future to present. (past)
the future always changing, the present is the smallest ammount of time imaginable. and the future seems like an unstable dimension for things that happen in the past affect it. the present is constantly making the past, thus making the future. so ffar, time is a measurement of the past. because only one unit of time exisits in the present. I call that unit P for present. because there is only one present
just think, you never breathe, you breathed. WE LIVE IN THE PAST!
WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FUTURE AND PRESENT?
since the present is the fastest thing in reality, humans who live in the present (can move with the presest, or anything that can, must be pretty smart, fast, and sharp.

Orf? Okay, it was a little difficult to get something coherent out of that. But it LOOKED like you were basicly musing on the nature of our human perceptions of our own existance, especially as it pertains to time and our ability to sense and understand it.
The point of your personal existance is entirely yours to decide. It's about the only real autonomy we have. The rest is decided by the actions of the societies we live inside, the individuals that surround us and our own animal instincts. Often to our dismay.
Personally, I'm here to absorb as much as I possibly can in terms of personal experience, study of the world around me and of myself, understanding of what I percieve and enjoyment of all of it. My life reflects this both for good and for bad as do my interactions with the people around me. I exist to think, to feel and to enjoy. If I make a positive difference in the world, that's a bonus, but I don't delude myself that I was put here to actually accomplish anything but the biological functions inherent in our species.
As for the nature of time... well I'm of the opinion that time is neither linear nor constant and that, as I believe reality to be, time is relative. But I'm no genius and I'm far from a physicist so what do I know?

I wouldnt know bootay, hmm but thats a nice way to live. if our biology permits us pleasure, lets get as much out of it possible! I was listening to a buddhist (however you spell it) explain enlightenment. it sounded like being able to live in the present. and said something about emotion, thought, and mind being someone else in you. if you identify yourself as mind. mind takes controll of you. watch your dissease. watch the thinker (your mind) as someone else, and you are on your way to living in peace (keeping pace with the pressent, my perception.) love, inner joy, and positive creativity is beyond emotion, beyond thought, beyond mind. and to keep pace with the pressent you must stop thinking (thinking in the past, cuz thats all we can do.)
well...

Time.
What is my relationship with time? I don't always move with it. I'm not always a part of it. There have been periods of my life that I've payed so little attention to the flow of time that when I DID look at it years had passed. Sometimes I feel that time stops. I've lived seconds that felt like days. My life is not linear. My perception of time isn't either. Fast is something I am not. More often than not, I feel that time moves without me, but that I stroll along at my own pace through life while time and everything trapped in it speeds by like DC traffic.
It's so difficult to explain. For me, mostly, time is only an abstract and a measurement I have to use for communication's sake. Because everyone around me can't STOP paying attention to time. I prefer to focus my attention on those things in life that actually matter to me. Maybe it's my perception of my mortality. I know that eventually, like all living things, I'm going to die. But I'm not particularly pressed by the idea. It doesn't instil me with the typical urgency to 'get it all done' I sense in other people. In my perception, anything worth doing at all is worth doing well. And nothing ever got done well by anyone who had one eye on a clock. I'm not running a race. I'm living.

you must not run from the past, you must move with the present. That task is very difficult. maybe the past changes like future, but reality is not at all linear, for it's path is always changing, or maybe it isn't? maybe we are all headed on a path towards something as a whole? just like Final Fantasy VII seems linear at first then the objective changes, until you win the game. but theres only one way to win the game (linear part) but there are many paths to that one way.
but back to the topic, life has only a couple things to live for pleasure, joy, and love. Those are all hard to get. some are easy, but when they leave, they bring the opposite. sure you can love someone, but as long as it is not true love, it wont last long and will soon turn into hate. joy is not associated with fun, however, it can be. joy is the great feeling you feel when in someones arms. love is the feeling you get when you stare into his/her eyes, he/she stares into yours, and you two dont know eachother, but deep inside, you know her, and she knows you. understanding eachother, they feel completely secure, they are free, together. nothing they say to eachother will break them. together, they are one. we all know what pleasure is.
this is, at least,my take on it.

I'm not in the right mindset at present to adequately formulate a clearly thought out post with my own take at present, so I'll just paraphrase Dragonfruit...
Life is like Final Fantasy VII

well...

i guess i'll come back to make one more statement..
you talk about the future as a dieing substance, something that cannot last. and you talk about the relationships between the future and the past. questioning why do we even bother.
its first best to understand that the future never dies. not once. its like a road that you drive down: the road ahead of you is your future, the road in back of you is your past. you cant possably run away from your past as its always there, and its constantly being refreshed as you move along the road. every mile you take will contain a set of memories, memories you would like keep, and memories you would like to forget. and even if these memories seem overwhelming at times, theres still is no possable way that they can create a roadblock and stop you moving on, after all, they are rested in the road behind you. so why do we bother? maybe for curiosity. maybe we want to see just how far we can make it down that road, maybe see what can turn up and if we can manage to have more memories that we would like to keep. or maybe its just hope, the chance that we can find something better or someone better. even could be both. who knows. that you would have to ask yourself.
i guess thats all i have to say on the subject. i know it doesnt make much sense but its the best i can do.

The reason for living is what you make of it.
Theres no set goal, theres no simple answer to it.
You cannot say "The reason for life is god made us and made us so that we would return to him in the end" or that "A bunch of random combinations of Cells and junk made this keyboard I am typing on, our brains, and made TastyVixen sexy"
I doubt anyone thought of our reason for living to play AO, or to type on this forum, or even to be on a computer.
In reality, your reason for existing can range upon what you believe in. For some its fate, for some its just random occurance.
Thats why I think the reasons for living is whatever you make of it. To love, to bring music to people, to reproduce, its whatever you work for it to be.
I apologize for a unclear and rather poor post of this, Im not in a great mindset to talk about a heavy subject like this,.
What is life

the point of life is to ponder the purpose of life... before you die and meet god to find out he's just a sadistic deity who loves the oldest running gag in history, people looking for purpose when there really is none. well, that and the creation of every religion is probably a laugh riot too for any beings watching over our societies... or maybe he's just pissed over how nobody can follow simple commandments and feel the need to continuously expand on them to suit their personal needs.
thou shalt not kill
love thy neighbor
you'd think with as many people out there who claim such high moral and religious beliefs, there'd be some peace in this world.
something that comes to mind, no i'm not stoned, just a bit tired. when i'm tired i have a tendancy to rant, for that i apologize.
"...know Him...sh*t, ni**a owes me $5!"

Reason for living? Simple:
To expands ones mind. see new sights. Meet new peopel. to fuck up and learn from your mistakes. To better yourself. To move beyond concepts that others force upon you, and find yourself. To not shove your opinions upon another..for they may have found their own meaning, and it might not be like yours.
Also the reason for living..is to relax and enjoyoneself. Staying cooped up in a room...12 hrs a day...banging away at a keyboard..making posts about philosophy..the menaing of life...space...time is good and all, but what does it get you?
A flabby behind..a headache that wont go away..and bad eyes from squinting at a Screen.
Life itself is a hellish existance. We are born in pain and misery...and we eventually die in such a way. We can either choose to remain in such a way...pining away about how dreadfull life is....philosiphying on it...chewing the concept around like so many mouthfulls of stale vomit, or we can just shrug..and take whats handed to us, and make with it what you will.
The Reason for living is to live life to its fullest......within your means.
To those peopel who are inevitabbly depressed over their lives...and always seek meaning...even those who dont belive they have nything to live for...heres a nice bit of advice I ehard once..that actually seems to hold some truth.
Shit happens.

My point in life is:
Step 1: Born
Step 2: Learn + have fun
Step 3: Procreate
Step 4: Grow old
Step 5: Utter dying words (probably poetic)
Step 6: Die.

Who says...the last step, has to be death?
It really matters on your faith but something can exist afterwards, if its heaven or hell, reincarnation, or the idea of Nothingness.
But that should not be anyones concern. Why you should live is however you want it to be. To live for love, for death, for just existing, its what you make of it.
