Pretty sure X is Swedish or something very close. Also sure others of the nationality play AO (I've found that most of the population of RK seems mainly split between Euros & Americans)- just not sure how many Swedes frequent these forums....

I think the most common europeans on rk1+2 are skandinavian and french

No great offense to the french, but I've noticed many french folks who play seem to not know english much at all where the other euro-types do. Does France not teach it's children english as much of the rest of european countries does?

(x is norweagen anit he? and on that note, actuly i thought the numbers where 45% norweagen players, 40% english (this includes america, english as in speaking the language as the main language) and 15% french players, if were talking about the majority of origen players.)

oh! and almost forgot: i play with alot of norweagen folk. their english is actuly very good. only im ive noticed something is with my buddy who screws an with a (memery recap: an is used infront of a vowel) so even then its not a big deal. personaly i think its cool-as-hell to meet people from all over the globe like this. reminds you that we are all people and in it for the long hual ^^

well the only thing i can say is that the ppl in my guild, whose english skills were even more bad than mine are from french. except that little 12 year old kid from norway.

well in france and russia you are not tought english at all at the local schools, and you cant realy blame them for not knowing how to speak english afterwards... though i think most french ppl need to learn that they shouldnt use french in puplic chat channels, no offence to them but theyre 90% of the ppl i see speaking theyre own language in a puplic channel...

and the russians needs to drop theyre attitude, i mean its like theyre in defending position as soon as you aproach! no need to be nasty just becouse you cant speak english, just say so

and if your wonering why meny germans arent so good at english, its becouse they dub, and translate EVERYTHING into german, and i mean everything, you cant go there and watch a movie in english...

anyways please sign up to the forum if your swedish since theyre alot of sweeds playing but there is no good cummunity for it

yep, if you wanna see the original english version of a movie, you have either to buy the dvd or hope that a theatre in one of the big citys shows it. ( happens only with movies that will have a huge audience)

me mostly likes the dubbed versions more, in 75% of the cases the dialogs of the dubbed versions are somewhat better.

I assume you mean cause you understand it better? I can understand how if you are not completely fluent in speaking or mainly understanding English a movie would play better to you dubbed into German(or whatever is your native language), but translation of movies generally results in something being lost in translation (or Bill Murrayed as we might someday call it due to that movie). The movie was originally conceived, written & directed in a certain language & translation to another almost certainly detracts from the original message. This of course goes all ways, it's not just for English language movies translated abroad. Ex. Akira or the original Diabolique. And budget definately goes into the mix of how well a movie will come off translated as well. Probably the biggest budget translated movie I'm familiar with was Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; it was a huge box office hit in the U.S. despite being in Chinese with subtitles. It also probably had a bigger budget for translation for the subtitles than 50 Japanese Animes put together...

Well, ok, i still miss around 2-8 % of the dialogues in an englich movie.

but my main point is that german dubbs are realy good.
Yeah htere are certain english phrases that sound just plain stupid in german, so they are exchanged with something else.
best example matrix 1 "dodge this" sounds in german "weich dem aus" kinde weird, so they made "nur ein agent" out of it "only agent". so its not any more fitting with the agents dodging but therefore with the agents phrase "only human".

another nice thing is when they use known german commedians in tricks.

another nice example for good german sub, one of the B5 episodes where sheridan says something alike: "I have to rescue the univers"
sounded pretty laim and pathetic in english while the german speaker made it sound actually aceeptable.

or the english old "detective"series "die zwei" ("the two"?).
in each country it was one of the worst series ever, but the german sub was completly rewritten so it was kinda funny, not good but funny.

but i ll bring also an example for bad tsubs: NOIR. The translation itself it quite good, but the voices of the speakers simply suck.

well it is not odd that the german dubbs are made good, since they have been doing it forever

when were on the topic, i have some weird tv compeny that gives me 800 channels, but only like 25 of them are worth looking at, yesterday i looked throug them and i saw these things:

- japanese movie, dubbed to some arabic languege with english subtitles

- news where the news ppl where dancing(10 min news tape going over and oer and over all day)(from some araic country)

- channel named b4u could be before you, but i think its beats for you, becouse there was some indians dancing hehe
