Singin the Dead Hard Drive Blues

Man, there is very little in virtual life as irritating as having your hard drive die. Mine fell over dead last night. After a night of struggling to save as much data as was possible, we declared the Maxtor "it's dead Jim".
We got a shiny new 160 gig beast tonight. Replacing software, re-copying files and making it useable is.... FREAKING ANNOYING!!!!!
If I'm lucky, I'll make it into Ka for the end of tonight's show. If I'm not, I'm going to be trapped in the hell of no /disco and no requests till tomorrow.
I need a huggle.

Poor harddrive, we hardly knew you....
I know I am feeling the pain here...you have my sympathy. A drive crash does nothing but suxxor!
It's lucky you got to retrieve some data though, most of us don't.

I feelt similar pains a while back. reformating sounds like a similar ordeal, since you're essentually reloading everything onto the HD like I was wiping mine and starting over. The only difference is that your died and mine had a mild stroke.

That sucks, big-time, StBoo.
Not that I need to tell you now, but Maxtors are teh suck, they don't last long at all, and when they finally die, they crash and burn.
