Gay Marriage Rights

There was a move done by nearly a hundred gay and lesbian couples on City Hall in San Fran (california). Lots of people with marriage licences. ;) Practicality of these licences remains unclear, but the message is damn strong. WOO!

I'm told there's going to be a rally in Washington for Sam-sex marriage rights soon. ^_^

Woot, take that silly puritan Americans. :P
Thats what I've found so odd, is why the hell people worry so much. Its not like they are forcing people to wed the same sex, its just their choices, and rightfully so. Like with the times before us, I don't see the consitution saying everyone but Homosexual Couples will have rights. Then again the same Bs was pulled before, but each time the group would gain more rights, slowly but surely. ;)

Awsome news, Woooohoo! :D

Is this a case of "Quick the President has enough problems with his lies about the war to stop this"? Cause I can't see the Right in power in this country allowing this without a big fight. And it doesn't help that some on the other side don't even support it. But It's like many things, an inevitability that they can't wish away. It will happen sooner or later for certain.

so what if a girl wants to marry a girl... just more fapping material for the hetero men. ;P everyone knows that most men who are against gay couples usually have no problem with two chicks.

who really cares. any couple will be living together and having sex (which is truly what everything against the issue is really about) anyway, let 'em reap the rewards and horrors of making possibly the biggest mistake of their life. if any regulation on couples should be made i think it should be an i.q. test prior to any breeding. :D

I think it'a bs that Bush is trying to ban gay marriages to the point of putting it in the constitution. Why doesn't he focus on more important things like the fact that "George W. Bush  , along with the Republican congress increased discresionary spending 26%, the largest increase since WWII. They also decreased revenues with a large tax cut given primarily to the rich. This combination led to the worst increase in the deficit since WWII." according to
http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Launchpad/5577/philo/fedbgt.htm
I guess that's all I'm going to say because if I got into it more I would take up this whole page. I will say this though.... If Bush gets back in office this year my next life goal will be to move out of the country. Any hot Canadians out there willing to make an offer?

Beat ya! :P I moved up here (to Canada from the U.S.) almost three years ago. Did I start something?

Seriously though, why waste all that time and energy worrying about what other people are doing? They "legalized", or at least made it "not illegal" for same sex marriages here in Ontario. It hasn't made one bit of difference to my life, except maybe bringing more just married couples here to Niagara Falls, and these people are happy, I don't see the problem.

I can't really comment on the proceedings at all. I have zero respect for the entire institution of marriage, so speaking on the rights for a specific culture to be allowed to do something that I don't condone in the first place would be rather silly. :)

Yeah, I've been eying Onterio canada for a while. I have LOADS of friends up there, and right now, alot of things about other countrys are extreemly appealing to me. The US; run by the corrupt , extreemly (more so than usual) dishonest, dumber than than usual, politions.

I've said more than once; "If bush is reellected, I'm moving to canada. Packing up, and I'm GONE." And I'm more and more inclined to every day. Very few things are tieing me down.

Canada just has their shit straight (and not! HAH!). ^_^

And if the bill to amend the constitution passes, making same-sex marriages banned period, then the US can take their "Land of the Free" BS, and cram it up their Jersy hole.

I hear ya! And I'm right next door to Canada too. Do you happen to know the laws about moving there from the U.S.A.?
I'm hearing all kinds of different things from people and it would be nice to know the facts :) .

As a warning of a similar note, I've heard rumors that people wishing to do a "Draft dodge" would Bush decide to truly add another notch in his bieng a facist, and head to canadia to dodge the draft, would be brought back and arrested for it. Not sure...hope the Canadian goverment is not the american's bitches, though. :)

Australia seems mighty tempting, though! :D

Can't say as I really believe in it much either Tarryk, but that goes for many things the folks in this country & even this planet cling fervently to that I would just as soon they cast aside. And my & your difference of opinion aside, would you want such a thing banned just cause you didn't believe in it? Or maybe have it banned for some and not others if you didn't really care one way or another? Would you find that was a valid law for something under our general law of freedom for all unless valid reasons to limit exist? Would it be OK for us to pass a law allowing marriage for all, but keeping Catholics from obtaining lawful divorces in the U.S.?(sure it would never happen, and personally I hardly care, but it's something to ponder)

The US and canada are close (hah!) allies. Bush or not, they have alota legal deals doing on. racking u[ serious debt on american stationed credit will get you extradited (sp) in canada.

I'm sure draft dodging is an arrestable offence. Arrested in canada, trial in the US. Which is why yo gotta beat the rush! And Yaknow, with as much as Bush has been militant and gun-ho, then I don't doubt he'll start screaming for a call to arms. TROOPS! We need troops! Draft draft draft!

You male americans that don't support an offencive war don't have it easy. I'm told you have to regester for the draft when you regester to vote. :?

I saw a sign today. It was made from two popular signs.
[Support our troops!]
[Impeach Bush!]
Hahahaha!

Eh. Lets move to canada eh. ^_^

I am going to be severely disappointed if the reason I returned to AO (Gridstream) allows the Bush-bashing and anti-American connotations to continue. This is a radio station attached to a game, not a real life issue, let's keep it that way please.

...and the republicans crawl out of the woodwork... ;)

you just need to take it with a sense of humor, like i did when his bro finally got over his state's problems and the oval office was a mockery the world over because of what our "democracy" we're trying to force other nations to follow suit with has become thoughout the years. it doesn't take a genius to take that position, but it also doesn't take a genius to figure out that you shouldn't try to piss off your allies. if NATO didn't find reasonable evidence to attack anyone perhaps we should have stayed with them... i could never be so "patriotic" to watch everything unfold and still believe anything there was justified, though i admit i never really was behind him on that. i support the troops, but he sends them over and tries cutting pay and veterans benefits, what kind of morale is that providing for these soldiers? and after all is said and done, doesn't it make you the slightest bit worried as to where we could end up if his type of diplomacy continues? there are countless other things i could say, like citing all the false names he gave to environmental issues which were opposite of what they actually provided for or even the failure to provide funding for his widely approved of "no child left behind" act, but i will leave it on gay marriage.

anyway...it's a general forum with some users sharing like ideas, jokes about whatever countries (eh), and nobody is resulting to r-rated flaming here. this is a group of like-minded adults having a conversation. with a topic like "gay marriage" did you honestly think there would be a lack of "what the hell is this guy thinking" when he wants to turn a document providing freedoms for all citizens, not those with the same beliefs/backgrounds, into a blockade for a minority group. a group whose rights are recognized when it comes to descrimination in the workplace yet he's trying to pass that descrimination onto this document of freedoms, the constitution... all because a few states have voted (!) to allow this type of union. i could be wrong, but wasn't this country founded on a democracy of freedom "for the people, by the people, of the people?" the people have spoken, but the head representative of our country doesn't like it and, for whatever reason, thinks his opinion trumps that of the people. for this type of logic, or lack thereof, he is guaranteed to be verbally crucified by these same people. what the united states needs is some real patriots, not for the administration, for the country which almost seems afraid to oppose the almighty ruler because of his actions on the throne.

nobody is forced to read any thread here... if there was a thread called "bush r0xx0rs" i would read it only for the laughs it would bring, not because i expected to agree with any of the posters. would it be alright if i was a clanner in game instead of omni? would it be ok if i opposed the corporate leaders then?
