Uhm... this is an odd one... but what is your oppinion on tongue piercings?
I'm considering having one done... but my mates are really against it... They say I'm not really the type...

I know I shouldn't listen to anyone else if I really wanna... but it's at the "it could be cool" stage... so I'm not just gonna ignore 'em... they are after all my friends, I trust their oppinions...

I dunno... I do some really dumb stuff at times, cus I get impulsive... and I have an unatural fear of needles (long story, might fill you in some day) so it has to be worth it... not "just" som'n I do...

I dunno... what are your oppinions about them... not should >I< have one, but your oppinions in general...

My opinion is if you want to, then do it, just dont do it in pressure, or to be "Cool".

Thought fear of needles is not that good for it.

I get shots weekly (Now 2 weeks, soon monthly) and even I fear taking blood, and would never consider a needle on my tongue.

I'm not doing it to impress anyone or cus it's "in"...
I never gave a @#"¤ about stuff like that, always been considered the odd one, cus I did what >I< wanted... and thought what >I< thought... not what the masses did...

So if I do it, rest asured, I do it for me...

i say pierce your belly button instead. not many dudes have theirs pierced and i think its sexy. p.s. my friends that have their tongues pierced swallow their jewelry all the time so watch out hehe.

I only knew one guy that had their tongue pierced.. never heard of anyone swallowing the ring, but I imagine it happens..

But a girl in my last business class got hers done, and couldn't talk for about a week.. and when winter came she got strep throat and the ring in her nose and tongue were both in a lot of pain...

I wouldn't personally get it done, cause it scares me, and makes me squirm when I see one, but they are a personal statement.. Like you said.. If you do it, do it for you, not for anyone else

My thoughts are; If you DO go down on your girl (oral), it's great for that. If you don't like going down there (wha??), then I say don't do it. ^_^ A tongue piercing kinda screams "I do oral", and it boggles the girl to find out someone with a tongue piercing WON'T go down.

At least my experience. ^_^

Tongue piercing are all about two things; Sexual enhancement, and style. If it's not your style, and it's not for sexual boosts, theeen, no. ^_^

And with ANY piercing you run the risk of infections, killing sensitive nerves, etc. When you punch holes in your body, you're rolling the dice. But see a professional piercer, and take good care of the result, and you'll be fine. (I'd start with a smaller gauge though. But that's just me ^_^)

And if in the long run, you don't care for it, take it out. I do believe it'll heal.

Some will find Tongue studs/rings sexy, some will not. ^_^

yeah I don't find em too sexy at all.... same with noses and eyebrows and stuff..

Well, it's not for ONE purpose alone, I see the "enhancing" effects as a perk, not a reason.
I'm considering it, for the same reasons some people consider tatoo's and such, I guess I just want a change, and this is one way of doing it...
And like mentioned, if I regret, I can always pick it out, and it wont show.

I dunno... I've always played with the idea, and I find that it complements some people, tho others should not have bothered...
Nose rings I'm not too keen on either, but that's a diff story.

Anyways, have any of you had it done?... or any of yer mates, and if, what was the general experience of it all?

My unneccessary two dollars worth:

I'm not a fan of any piercing or bodily damage for the sake of physical attraction.

Piercing: If you want to decorate your body, you have the capability of doing so without driving metal rods through it. Necklaces, rings, magnet-earrings. And forget the tongue. Yes, I can vouche for this, a girl with a tongue piercing enhances oral sex to epic proportions. But you still have a bolt of metal through your tongue, and that's just not that attractive to me.

Tattoos: I LOVE body art. But I'd rather it weren't permanent. I'm all for other people with tattoos, but I'll stick to permanent marker and liner pencils on halloween, myself. Henna art rocks, too.

Tanning: Whoever gave naturally pale people with unnaturally tan skin the rating of "attractive" in society needs to be wiped off the timeline. If you have naturally dark skin, that's attractive. If you have naturally fair skin, that's attractive. If you're naturally white as a ghost, yes, even THAT is attractive (sometimes VERY attractive) to me. But when I see someone with WAY darker skin than they had the week before, I see other people walk up and say to them "Wow, you got a tan, looks great!" I say "Wow, you fried your skin. I liked you better without the full-body burn scar."

Yeah, that's always the catch innit... hehe! So many different views on it, and in general, a lot of peeps don't like the idea of males havin 'em...
Two of my mates encouraged me to do it, one is a punk, the other has one, so I guess they're kinda baised...

But on the other hand, the only ones who really complained about it were my two extremely well brought up mates, so they are too kinda...

I dunno... I guess I'm goin trhough with it... I can always regret... Som'n big has to come up for me to change my mind by now... but who know's...

Trends are funny to me. 20 years ago, very few people would have had even given thought to sticking something through their tongue (or nose, or scrodum, or whatever).....but 20,000 years ago it was all the rage. 20 years ago, everybody had to have a leisure suit, were just starting to see who could have the biggest hair, and admited to still listening to The Village People. As much as people say "I'm not doing it because its cool, I'm doing it to express my individuality" is basically full of shit, because they still use the most current method avaible to "express" their "individuality". I'd be more likely to throw the dipshit a bone of individuality that was standing on his head, in the middle of the freeway with nothing on but a pink tutu than the next punk I see with sticks of metal sticking through every god given orfice.

My opinion? Come up with something original, not the blather that MTV is selling to you along with the next Slipknot/Timberlake/Beyonce (whatever the hell her name is) album.

I express my individuality by selling out like the biggest corporate whore on the planet, but without making a dime. (e.g. playing commercially recognized music from the formats I use, and boning people up on "the latest trend" music...like my latest stint with french pop music, which is about as blatantly corporate-grown as one can get)

I figure it works well, since I see everyone else on the planet saying "down with the corporate sell-outs!", without any clue that they're saying it in an AOL chatroom using Windows XP and a Dell computer, and secretly still longing for the next limp bizkit album. (no offense, bizkit fans)

People that have the tongue dealies done are of course going to be biased, but they also should be able to yield more information. They can tell you about their experiance and such. Maybe even give you the name of a good piercer.

The only people that may be better informed and LESS biased would be someone that had it done for a while, and removed theirs later. They can tell you why they removed it or whatever. That's just MORE information for you! ^_^

I'll be upfront; I'm considering it too-- totally for sexual enhancment. That's the only reason I want one.

I've always sorta steered clear of the antagonism directed towards "Sheeps", "tend followers" or whatever you want to call them. I was once really angsty about that sorta thing, but I found I didn't really care enough to BE angry over the matter. ^_^

I'm all for letting people do their own thing, and being cool with it. If they want to dress themselves in page 74 of whatever cataloge, that's fine. Even if they want to punch themselves full of holes, tattoo their booty (er, body), or go to extreems.

(you'd be surprised how many of the anti-sheeps are sheeps themselves, or wuss out when they see extreemist methods of being oneself. ^_^)

I personally like doing whatever I want with clothes. My average look is what everyones seen I draw myself as; jean jacket/pants, hair down. Sometimes I look like I ordered page 74 from the Gap, sometimes I look like a scary goth. Sometimes I looks like a little scrub... but that's when I'm lounging in my PJ's. I like to have fun with my woredrobe. ^_^

Oh, and Henna tat's?? They rock my WORLD!
I want to one day get my whole body done in henna art. That's an experiance I definately want to have. ^_^
