I gotta vent somewhere!

Postby Otori » Tue Jul 15, 2003 8:21 pm

Mr. Humble, unassuming, level 117 Adventurer Otori got a warning on his account last night!

I stumbled into Wine to kill a few ninjas. Couldn't find a team, so I just stood around. A team of lower levels walked up and asked for some Kitty buffs, which I gave. I trailed behind them a bit throwing some heals out, BUT NOT FIGHTING, and they were greatful. Then a Fixer on the team decided to start cussing me out for no reason...well his reason was that I was trying to steal their kills. He pissed me off so bad that I did decide to train one to their camp as they were healing....MUWHAHAHAHAHA. Bad Otori BAAAD Otori.

Next thing I know 2 ARKS show up.....not ONE ARK, but TWOOOOO ARKS. Suddenly I'm invited to their little "discussion group" where I receive about 5 lines of dark green text that read something like this:

ARK: You have been accused of harrasing and training mobs.
ARK: Would you like to tell your side of the story?
ARK: A warning has been placed on your account as you are in violation of the Funcom EULA.
ME: wait, I'm still typing.
ARK: Thank you, anything else?
ME: wait...wait

You have been kicked from group *whatever*.

Oh well :x

Ack! O_o
Didja save the chat log (or whatever) so you could at least attempt to vouch for yourself to an arc (or someone) willing to listen?

No, like a punk, I didn't. It all happened so fast. It's just the irony that I consider myself a true gentleman player. Guess I should reconsider and just become another powerleveling, owz jooz, 12 year old. *sigh*

No idea what it "means" to be warned. I guess if I get busted again they kick me off Rubi-Ka. I can find out if you want me to.... :P

They didn't let you talk?.. or talk to any other members in the team?...

Um.. I'd be emailing someone... Even if it is just a warning, it still shouldn't be there. :(

Give them hell Otori, if I petitioned everyone who brought a train my way, I wouldn't have time for much else.
And it sounded like they could use a reminder on behaving themself if u got dissed for healing them!

Damn those ARK's probly friends of the offended fixer, why ask for your side if they're not gonna listen - that pisses me of...

Well I do hope u write someone and get it sorted out :)

Chatlogs dont mean ANYTHING to an ARK. they can be forged VERY easily with notepad. screenshots are harder to forge.

but... i find it HIGHLY doubtful that FC will remove the warning. One of my orgmates got banned for 3 months b/c of telling someone to stop cursing at her.. she didnt cuss back, but somehow the evil person got her banned. (btw, she had the org bot). When she complained to FC, they told her that warnings and suspensions would *not* be repealed, even if in error. Also.. Otori *did* train, which is against the EULA. i find it amazing that the ARKs watched him train, tho.. which they need to do to ban someone.

imo, i would e-mail FC, and see exactly what the warning was for, and why you were not allowed to explain your side. if you talk really nice, they might make a positive note on your account, which could cancel out the warning.

and there, my friends, is my $.02

(and Otori... if you ever leave us, for banning or whatever, i will personally go on a rampage for you. honest!)

Funcom peoples are good people. So I can't imagine why something so lame could happen. Like Sergeiovich said, talk to them nicely and find out why you were tagged. I'm 100% more responsive if I'm approched from a civil person. So I can only hope that the same is true in this case.

^_^ I hope.

I'm not going to pursue it, because of the exact reason that Sergei said: I did end up training one of the ninjas on them.....I violated the EULA and got a tag slapped on my account for prolly the same crap that happens to peeps 100 times over every day.

I think my problem with it revolves around the community service that GSP does and that I personally do. I spend alot of time helpin out peeps that arent familiar with AO, giving out a few creds, tips, and whatever else I can. Never got an ARK showing up saying "HEY!! thats a nice thing ya did", nor do I expect it.

And this might be wrong of me, but the ARK that spearheaded it was Samkin.

Only reason I post the name is so that I feel a bit liberated......because I'm sincerely pissed at the treatment I got

Personally, I think it's ridiculous to do this without listening to someone's side first.

My biggest issue with ARK is that there is seemingly no consistency in the responses you get. But, I suppose that's what you get with volunteers. I've had some very good experiences, and some unbelievably bad ones.

I understand your frustration, Otori. But, I know you...it's not like you're ever going to have that warning come back to bite ya. This was a fluke. :)

Those 3 ARKs I've met were very nice, but I've seen some at work, that makes me wonder why they became an ARK, I do belive that it is not all of them who bwcame ARKs to help players, but because of status or whatever amongst their friends.
Generally the ARK thingy seems to work tho...

Well Otori. You did break the "rule" there so. I have to agree with those ARK's on the warning on your account heh.
But as to their "yor warned, k tnx bye" additude before you could even respond really scares me.
If ARK's don't have time time listen to normal people (i.e people that don't cuz and swear at them)
them something is wrong somewhere. A ARK should always take th etime to listen/talk to players as long as they are polite, if ARK's leave asap due to being badmouthed I wouldn't blame them lol.

Actually (not talking from experience) the reason why people do some ARK is just to get a free account (thus the reason why people are good and bad). ARK's are great, but the problem is that it is our version of customer service and because they are volunteers there's so many different personalities that you have to deal with. So one person may feel uber and does what they want while the other people actually feel it is a type of job and do their best at it. Also I bet there's more bickering, moaning and politics within Ark than there is some really huge and popular organizations on Rubi-Ka.
