I saw Matrix Reloaded on the sneak premiere last night (which is why I wasn't around for my show, in case you were wondering).

It destroyed my face. I will be going to see it again.

Perhaps several times. After my brain heals.

I'm scared.....I am, by nature, a pessimist, which is why I don't trust critics, but David Edelstein I always read and I hope this time he's wrong. Oh ya, prolly somewhat of a spoiler, so don't click if you don't want to know. And I am by no means making judgement, I'll save that for when I go see it, but anyways:

Just came back from it. Don't doubt the hype; it blows the original out of the freaking water.

The fights are perfect, the comedy is in just the right places, and we get to see a few new faces and places. The storyline is incredibly interesting, possibly even more so than the first one. Nothing seems out of place, or out of continuity. No spoilers from me, but I'll say two things.

The fight with Smith isn't a fight; it's a damned BATTLE.

Hand-to-hand weapons. Yee haw.

My opinion isn't as glowing. The special effects and fights were great and probably worth seeing but I don't know why they had the rest in there.

Well being the in-between film that it is, probably a lot of it will make more sense once the third one comes out.

I also heard that going to see it a second time might help to "get it" better. I have yet to see it the first time, so who knows.

Also I feel kind of bad for the folks that haven't bothered to go see the Animatrix short films. I heard from someone that seeing the Animatrix short films was really a good "prequel" to understanding what the heck is up.

After talking to some people I figured this out, this movie and the next one are basicaly the same movie. Alot more than Lord of the Rigns, alot more (which I hope doesn't become a trend in films, Lord of the Rings it works, it's doesn't seem to here.)
But I still feel alot of the first movies style isn't here. Otherwise it's pretty good.

The wachoski Brothers...hell, just call them... The brothers, have said they will not make any more Matrix sequels.

And while it's easy to say that... notice how they still remain true to their supposded (heard on Dateline) shyness and humbility, not giving television interviews, and not taking all if most any credit.

I'd really only like to see what happens after Neo wins, Neo loses, or nothing...yet the Matrix just continues.



A few conclusions I had from seeing it yesterday?


Neo is a Program.

Agent Smith was one of the other 5 "The ones" who were trying to stop it.

Neo is a reincarnation of all 5.



Personally, I'd say if they want to continue, do it with an Anime.

I loved the Animatrix, except for the one that while being extremely "Badass" for making Humans to be the actual badguys, it became too political...relating it to the African American hatred in the 60s, the Anti-Semite hatred, the execution of a NVA/VC by a SVA officer on photo, and so on.


However, that could be called the most brilliant episode ever.

Besides creating our demise to us, by creating AI...we brought them to it.

It could be a way to explain that Neo could take a route to elimate all humans, all machines, or let machines live or humans.

Or...take a pathetic route and have the earth "reborn" with humans and AI working together...

Finally saw Reloaded today. This is my review of it.

I have read some reviews of Reloaded, of some people thinking it was not good. I think it was amazing. Yes, there was quite a bit of dialogue early on. As a "middle movie", and since we knew squat about Zion so far, this dialogue is needed to set up more later on.

Neo is not a program. There aren't layers upon layers upon layers of the Matrtix reality as some have suggested in reviews I've seen. In other words, the "Zion" reality is not just another Matrix, outside of the Matrix. I think a lot of people I talked to after the movie didn't catch that, and I think that is probably the reason for many of the bad reviews.

Hell, one reporter on Aint It Cool News movie review site is in belief that the movie is saying the Zion reality is just another Matrix layer.

The best example I can give to describe Neo is.... like Paul Muad'dib from the original movie Dune. Remember that movie? Paul Muad'dib was "The One" in that movie. At first, he needed to use the special wierding devices just like everyone else to produce "the voice", capable of making human sound become focused into a force that could destroy rock and stone.

At the end of Dune, Paul used his own human voice without the device, and crushed the marble floor. Everyone in the room was stunned...Paul no longer needed the device? He had evolved into his role as "The One".

Neo is this same way exactly. Using his "Neo power" in the Zion reality does not mean the Zion realiy is the Matrix too, nor does it mean Neo is a program. It simply means Neo really truly is "The One", in a way that surpasses the claims on the Architect.

The Architect explained it all, from the computer's side of it. The "second Matrix" as we have known it up to now (late 20th century one) has been "flushed clean" 6 times (with the "waste" being Zion). Why do this? Well as the Architect said, even as good as he tried to build the matrix there was a very small percentage of "waste". In dealing with humans, this perhaps is pure technology's failure to completely understand humanity. The Architect basically said he could get it 99 percent correct, but needed the whole system of Zion and a "One" and the repeating destruction and re-doing to flush out this remaining imperfection occasionally.

In other words, the Zion/One system was devised and planned by the machines as a way of keeping the Matrix operational. Holding us hostage, basically. Each "One" was the living key, that ignited the waste system to start over (keeping the Matrix clean). If the One resisted, the humanity hooked up to the Matrix AND Zion died. Thus, they did as they were told.

This is a very elaborate way of showing how we as humanity in this movie have been reduced to shit, for lack of a better term. We are the waste byproduct of the Matrix "body". How utterly evil, I thought. The Architect sitting there with his grand speech, basically telling Neo that humanity was waste that had to be occasionally "flushed".

Only this time, there is something different in this system the machines have devised. Neo is different, the Architect said it himself. He is not like the others that thought they were "The One". Without the Architect knowing Neo's true ability even in the real world, Neo really is "The One" meant to break humanity out of this torturous loop.

A great many possibilities have opened up from the Architect's speech, but also it revealed that this creator doesnt know everything. The Architect reminds me of The Emperor in Return of the Jedi, constantly going on about how this was all according to plan and we have him to thank for it. Obviously, The Emperor in ROTJ missed something, because it didn't quite go according to his plan. Same goes for the Architect, I suspect.

And what isn't going according to the Architect's plan? The true power of love, and the fact that Neo is beyond the understanding of the Architect.

I think it's very cool that human's were "the architects of their own demise", and now the machines are the "architects of their own demise". They created the system that eventually evolved to creating Neo....the real true One.

It's also cool how Neo at the beginning of Matrix 1 basically rejected getting stuck into a life of boring job/repeat/repeat. Now the Architect is like that boss, telling him he needs to do as he is told (take the left door, to restart the Zion system). Neo rejects this.

That's EXACTLY the phrasing I've been using to describe it. I'm glad someone else caught on to that same parallel.

Haven't sdeen Matrix Reloaded yet. but have seen (played) Enter THe Matrix.

(which intersects and has around 1 hr of additional footage (cinematic that is, there is also an assload of cgi cutscenes in addition to the extra cinematic rreallife footage, so several hrs of Matrix'nes) that fills out the story a lot more)
(it's advised to play thru the game before seeing the movie)

While the Reloaded movie focus on the main things,
the game follows side storys a bit more.
Will be interesting when I see Matrix 2 and how the "missions" and sub stories and info fill out the gaps in the movie.
(spent a full day 20+ hrs straight playing Enter The Matrix lol)

Man I love wall runs, jumps, wall kicks. flips.
And bullet time rawks. seeing the sonic bullet paths is kickass.

"The Brothers" directed the game, original cast took part as well.

And GAWD do I hate Agent Smith. agents are pesky regardless but Agent Smith freaks me out. (so wanna nuke his ass, grrrr)
I did kick his ass a bit now and again couln't take him down tough lol...

I did send one other agent flying over a rooftop splattering into the ground tough lol...
And I got to assist Morpheus, saving his ass lol...

there is a hacking interface in the game. some people says that
in the movie Reloaded there are codes seen on the city signs
that can be used to enable hidden features (i.e cheats) that will
unlock the full potential (i.e you reprogram the matrix itself hehe

While Reloaded shows from one angle/pov what happen,
Enter The Matrix shows it from another angle/pov.
If ya loved Matrix. you'll love Enter The Matrix... highly recommended.

Ah and if ya see an Agent. RUUUUN like hell, go for that hardline phone! lol

That's it...damnit...I'm buying it on the way home tonight...White Stripes album will just have to wait.

This sorta doesn't have anything to do with Matrix Reloaded but if your bored waiting for the next matrix movie watch some other great movie I thought Swordfish was pretty good kinda like Matrix with the hacking thing and all

Also Ocean's Eleven was damn good but hey those are my favorites I watch over and over and over must I go on?

I saw one thing on another board where someone suggested that Neo didn't have "Neo powers" in the real world, but that his "union" with Agent Smith allowed him to have a certain control over technology in the real world. Like Neo issued some sort of mental "self destruct" onto the incoming squiddies.

Interesting thought....not sure if I agree or not. I'm sort of split on that theory.

On one hand, it would be cool for Neo to evolve into having influence and power over both "races" (man and machine). It might mean he can really be the bring of peace between them. After watching the Animatrix stuff, I kind of think humanity got what it deserved to a degree, but it's time for the war to end. Both sides coming together in the end through Neo's new techno-human power would be nice. We need machines, and they need us.

On the other hand, I disagree because to me this would make Neo's power in the real world a fluke. So if one of the previous "Ones" had done the same thing to an agent then they would be doing power in the real world too. It makes Neo not be "The One" as much as "One of the Ones that just managed to do it this way". I'd prefer to think of the Neo character as the real One, as him doing all this because others simply never reached that level or cant reach his level. It gives him more of a destiny.

Lots of words, just to analyze a movie. hehe. In any case, I loved the movie and will see it again. I wouldn't care if the rest of the world hated it. The whole Matrix and Animatrix stuff, the concept art, the back story and imagery, the music, the action, it all rocks.
