The situation is this:
GridStream Productions has always been neutral in attitude, but "clan" by label, and this is for several reasons.
A) Those of us who started GridStream initially were all clanners, and a couple of us had token boards that we did not want to lose. So we decided to just be neutral-esque but remain clan.
B) Switching to neutral is impossible without a full character reroll, and the majority of the guild was not thrilled with the prospect of rerolling their mains.
C) Since switching to neutral is impossible, that makes it equally impossible to EVER hire a character into the guild who is clan or omni. We don't like the prospect of only being able to hire characters who have been neutral their entire life, because that would narrow our expandability down to about Zero.
D) Last but not least, the entire concept of being disallowed to "become" neutral is silly. The majority of GSP (last time it was brought up, anyway) agrees that all characters should have the right to choose to be neutral, even if they were once clan or omni. I mean, if you can switch sides, why can't you switch to no side? It's just silly. So think of point (D) as a protest of sorts.
We are neutral, we have always been neutral, and we will always be neutral at heart. The label of clan is slapped on us by the silliest of all coding laws of Anarchy Online. We simply have no choice.
