Ive realized I'm bored ingame if there's not at least 1 gsp party / day. I think for most players there is only pvm and pvp and no socializing in AO :/

Aside from the unfortunate cancellations we have on occasion, we do have at least 1 show every day. ;)

Maybe it's my perspective, but I do see a lot of socializing in game. Between GSP, my player org, and all the end game players that are on at the same time of day I am, I see a pretty nice social circle there. But it also depends on what an individual wants to get out of AO. I think a lot of people are happy just to keep to themselves and go kill stuff. But then there are the rest of us who like AO because it's a fun game AND because of the cool people we've met. The flood gates really opened for me when I realized that teaming is the only way to play the game.

I haven't been in game in a few days. Been feeling too yucky. :( And now I'm missing all my friends and shooting stuff.

Depending on the time zone you're in ;)

As for socialising, I'm sure there are others who feel just like you. Maybe it's worth a try to ask around. There are still a lot of rp'ers around afaik. Or you can start your own group even!

Honestly I've seen more orgs removing any mention of RP from their mission statements and such. Aside from the Council of Truth, I don't think I've seen any other hardcore RP'ers in AO in the last year or 2.

RP aside, getting in with a good, friendly org seems to be the ticket. When I log in to play at night and there's no GSP show going on, I just chill and hang out with my player org or try to get in on a raid. The opportunity is there. Just takes some time to get to know people. But again, having breasts IRL makes making friends in MMO's exponentially easier. Sad but true.

But yes, more GSP shows plz. :D

I remember in (about) 2005 there were a lot of people playing AO from my country when they launched the froob programme.. very few people in my org (it was a hungarian only org) had high level toons.. i remember we were running around in teams showing each other our appartments, sometimes we were listening to the same radio station while playing and we were just chatting and stuff:) Sadly, today theres only like 5 people from my country who are active, and most of them is only in for pvm/pvm and no interest in social stuff. I was very happy when i found gsp it gave me back a bit of what I had lost during the past few years!

*like*

AO has the bonus of being so freaking OLD that the fan base is incredibly diverse. I love that I have friends now from places I've never even heard of. Who knew AO would teach me some big RL geography lessons? lol

I've had my ups and downs in AO, but it is GSP and our fans that keep me here :)

Yeah I'm always happy to see GSP still going after so many years of listening to it, AO comes and goes in all sorts of ways but GSP has lived on strongly through out all the ups and downs and as long as there is GSP I will always come back to AO for the people who party :)

It could be worse. You could be like me when you get bored in AO! This is just one example of what my boredom PVM/PVP led to!

yeah I can honestly say no other mmo I've played has a community like AO. i've been playing since..umm...maybe 2004ish maybe earlier, but it's always been GSP, our fans and the community that has kept me coming back :)

Events at least at a fr00b Alantean user's perspective living in Hungary is like finding a needle in a haystack. The only party I ever saw was a Xmas party @ borealis this year (dunno who held it though), but the social experience here is much better. I was playing the game Runescape as a fr00b for a few years. It was a great game with a great commmunity, but by now it has become a failing community. There is no strong community present, the only people there were bots and immature people, NO RP'ers present, and the creators ruined the game by neglecting fr00bs a lot. Overall, don't worry about having few parties and few RP'ers, worry about things that will make the problem worse (and make it look like a sci-fi Runescape)

It would rock if we could be everywhere all at once or have live shows 24 hours a day, but sadly, volunteer organizations such as ours tend to be limited because of the nature of our existence. But, having said that, we are working on some new show formats and hopefully bringing in some new DJ's very soon, so our live time will be increasing soon!

I have noticed that when I'm in game and playing, many people I run into don't know what GSP is. I try to change that one person at a time, but I think we'll need to see what we can do about promoting ourselves a little more. ;)
