Mono has an undeserved reputation as the "kissing disease", it's transferable just like the common cold or any other airborne virus.
Or so I keep telling my girlfriend after I got diagnosed with it two weeks after a business trip to Amsterdam...

We had to learn all about it in school when it started getting passed around. People were passing it from sharing straws and such.
