Tepamina's soldier guide from AO-Universe should get you started.
http://www.ao-universe.com/main.php?site=knowledge&link=0&id=230

It is slightly outdated but still a good guide for start.

w00terz! Grats on 15! I might have a backpack of low level carb armor. That would definitely be better than the pieces of subway loot you're wearing right now. I haven't played soldier a lot, so I don't want to give you any bad advice about what weapon to use. I'll let someone else field that question. lol

Kawa: To answer where you get carb, You make it, You but it in one of the tradeskill shops as a "Carbonum Plate" and when you get the ql you want, a tradeskiller handles the rest, Very cheap and very good armor to use till about level 100 as froob, then use miys.

If shadowlands, Carb is still good but Miys and OFAB are your friend too.

As for weapons Froob: Division 9 RSGE's are good For SL : Peren Blaster/Mortiig Blasters

Started to play this game one month ago, as neutral Nano-Tecnicican Solitus for free on RK2. And it is my first MMO. Also play another MMO, not very popular too.
At the moment I love atmosphere, plot and, generally, the game itself. But I'm bored, because I don't know what to do there. I joined Shattered Dreams for my first roleplaying experience, but there are only few people who enter it from time to time, and that's always when I sleep, because my time is GMT+6, so I can't roleplay with them even though I have character dossier on ao-universe. I don't like mindless killing of monsters. Yes, it's relaxing, but boring. I can't play in PVP because I'm of too low level to play normally. And quests are atmospheric, but quite... boring. Conversations are really good, but almost all of quests are just small tasks with no plot twists, with no relations to the main plot.
Though I must admit, start island is great and big (you don't meet start locations where you can't kill all monsters and do all the quests in hour so often), skill system is complex, I like the idea that you can wear clothing with no bonuses above clothing that gives them and, so, look like what you want to look, monsters are pretty creative, plot and setting are very deep and the game itself is hard to play, which I like.
So, overall, I pretty like idea of the game and the realization, but I don't know what to do in it. Does anyone have any advices for me? Does my problem depend on the game, or I just don't like MMOs? I thought about tradeskilling, organizing RP events or just imagining some random goal that will keep me going, but I don't know would it work. Also thought about joining DJ's in last time, but in that case my broadcast would be irregular, only with kind of music I like, which you can read in this topic, my time is +6 so nobody could hear them and, also, once I'm out of music I will just quit until I find something new. How do you think, would I fit.
Notice, I didn't mention that you anyway will probably to accept offer, because game is 10 years now and it needs every DJ it could have. Because if I said that you would think I am cynical and most likely do not let me join until I will be 50th level, at least. And because I didn't say that, you would anyway mention it, but think of me as of a bit naive man, and I will have less troubles with joining. Because I am a bit naive.
So, what do you think?

P.S. Does anybody have Irreparable River MV that he doesn't need?

P.P.S. Funcom are sadists. Give player in the start zone weapon which can be useful through half of the game after upgrade, don't say about that, create in start zone incredibly big store with weapon of any kind, including better version of the same pistol that, however, can't be upgraded, and, for the most cautious, give quite good upgrade of the same pistol right there, in the start zone, which completely denies all other upgrades. That's what I call extreme sadism.

On 18 level?
And what about another questions?
And, actually, I'm more interested in tradeskilling of pistol than using it by now. Programms is my weapon, anyway.
But thanks for advice!

TheBalanceGuardian, it sounds like you've been very busy getting to know AO! My advice for you is to get to know more people in game. Most higher level players are very friendly and happy to help usually. Another thing you should do is visit aouniverse.com (or is it .org?). They have the best game play guides and suggestions. I normally have that website open in my browser every time I'm in game. ;)

Once you get to know the community a bit better and get more comfortable with the game style, I think you'll really enjoy it. You seem to be getting the hang of the game mechanics pretty well, and not every player who has only been on for a month can say that! That certainly gives you an advantage.

It is pretty quiet during certain times of the day, but experiment with times that work for you and you'll find a time that's convenient for you AND active in game. :)

Hope this helps!

First: well, it wasn't really hard to know basics. Yes, I've read manual and some topics on official forum, I've spent a lot of time looking for roleplay guild and catching Falikos to join, I'm reading "Prophet without Honour" and all "The Art Gallery" at the time, but even if I wasn't, what's so hard in interface? Of course, there are fine points, but I don't think I really know them, and it's normal. Interface is a bit ponderous, but it isn't so hard to know. Controls? Just like in KOTOR, and I have played both games of series (and still like the second better). Interface? Just click for some time on everything you want to click on - and you know it, even more, no one on start island would be wondering why are you doing all emotions in order. How to play? Let's say, MMORPGs aren't hardest games to play (on low levels, of course), and if I finished first Earthworm Jim on Normal difficulty (Buttville, I hate you! Especially this "Use your head" stage!), both Syberias, Braid, The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom, Fallout (first and third) and half of Bioware/Obsidian games, I think, I can find how to kill leet (pet, not player) without getting resurrected. So I don't think it is so hard to know basics of game. But thanks! I hope reading game materials will help me.
Second: I already visited ao-universe.com. I even have dossier of character on it. Though I didn't think this site is so useful. I used auno.org and gamershell froob/sloob/noob guide more.
Third: I hope it will be so about community and style. Actually, I was a bit disappointed with Borealis when I came in (it looked more like a village and every building was a shop! Where are people supposed to live? I know about backyards, but this doesn't mean ALL people of cit... village are supposed to live there due to game lore), but Omni-1 and Athens are sure looking better.
Third: My bad, I was playing for two months, actually. I have mixed up a bit.
Fourth: I also hope it will be so with time. But I already have to left out time from 2 to 14, because of school. OK, I will try.
Fifth: It sure will! But if you suggest me something about roleplaying and tradeskilling, and also said something about DJ work, it is even more useful!

P.S. And what about River? And don't tell me something like "River will live", I know it, because it's me who is going to repair it! Location would be more useful.

P.P.S. I love postscriptums.

P.P.P.S. Really love them.

UPDATED: Don't need River anymore. By the way, using the occasion, wanted to say that AO community is a lot friendlier than real world community ever was. Special thanks to my guild, Shattered Dreams, for help in searching this pistol and specifically to Wepons from unknown guild, who agreed to spare one.

Now that neutrinos go faster then lightspeed, I wonder if we'll be seeing a buff for this weapon...

Have my doubts, Not sure if even half of Ao's stuff acutally goes in line with actual physics ;)
