TSW Beta Key, Anyone?

Postby Nushen » Fri Oct 22, 2010 5:27 pm

That's right! FC needs to stress test the servers in a new kids game. As incentive for FC subscribers to help, they're offering TSW Beta Keys for anyone who reaches level 15 in this game. Here's the link:

There is some confusion as to whether or not you can pre-reg for this test or not. The link isn't appearing on account pages yet.
Your confusion is confusing me.

According to that post, the registration for the stress test will not show up on your account page until tomorrow when the test begins.

You can of course register and play it even now, with a little bit of googling.

aww man, 4 hours glued to my chair spam killing and now I read this post after..... lol

Funcom employee Stress Test Finished - Thanks to all who joined
The Pets vs Monsters stress test is now officially over. Thanks go to everyone who joined and helped us gather important information and data.

The tests tonight helped us to learn about how the client and the servers perform, how the install and download process is working for users and we found some issues we would probably not have found without so many users online at the same time. So all of your really helped and contributed a lot to give us the chance to gather invaluable information!

The initial announcement was that everyone who reaches level 15 will receive a beta key for a stage of the closed beta test of The Secret World (start of this test to be announced in the future). Due to the technical issues some of you experienced during the test, we decided to give everyone who registered for the tests tonight a beta key too regardless of what level they reached. You should find an e-mail with the details in your inbox soon (not before Wednesday, 27th of October though, so give your F5 keys a break ).

Thanks again!

Oh, and he is wrong. It was level 16 that you had to reach. They had very bad wording in the mail.

Sadly, I was unable to play it today after they made some updates. I have a Samsung Syncmaster 730BF as a monitor and it would just black out and tell me that my 1280 x 1024 resolution, that I use for everything else, was sadly not accepted as an "optimal resolution". I probably could've changed the resolution, yes, but I do like all of my icons unshifted, exactly where I've left them. They got shifted around like that once, and finding anything again was more painful than watching Godfather III.
Lucky for me, I'll probably be in the military during the beta anyway, but I hope you all had fun (and got the beta key). :)

aww, I had the blackout issue too but there was a fix for it on the forum. You just had to change a setting in the config file so it ran windowed.

I made it to level 16 too, with about 5 minutes left, in case they meant over 15 rather than 15 or more, but then it turned out it didn't matter anyway. Still, it was an amusing few hours. Probably not a game I would play again. Too simple to hold my interest. Cute and fun, though. Riding around weird planets on a big cat, wolf, or bear, clawing and magically blasting tons of critters. Easy and painless to help others, since everyone gets xp and loot for every monster defeated within range of their view. They just have to go pick it up, so leveling afk really doesn't work. Besides, it logs you out if you're afk too long. It had plenty of technical issues, but that's what stress tests are for. And Tasty's right, it's very much a kids' game, but it looks like a pretty good one to me. Just stock up on spare mice with durable buttons before you show it to your tykes.
