Thief 4 YAY!!!!

Postby Dasubervixen » Tue May 12, 2009 10:07 pm

Eidos announced yesterday that they are developing another installment of my all time favorite PC game "Thief" Yippy!!!!!!

No details yet as to when it's coming out or what it will be like.

Thief is a revolutionary game that emphasizes stealth and cunning over fighting. When played at the highest level of difficulty. Many of the mission require that you do not kill anyone. It's also best played in a darkened room where it can really scare the crap out of ya. LOL

I can't wait for this game to come out. I'll haunting th official forums until it does. I just hope they learned for the mistakes they made with Thief 3, Deadly Shadows.

This is the series that helped to convince me that I'm just not cut out to ever play a rogue-like character. It was a great series and I wanted to enjoy it, but I'm just not cut out for the sneaky stuff. :)
I may be retired, but I'm GridStream for life.

Yay Garrett! I love those games. Thief 1 & 2 are two of the very few games I've played through more than once. I loves the sneaksie stuff. If you played Bioshock with Camouflage and Wrench Lurker and a crossbow and lots of patience, setting traps or sneaking past enemies instead of blasting away at everything that moves, then you'd like Thief. The graphics on the first two are pretty dated, but we all play Anarchy Online here, so that's nothing new.
Do not try to think outside the box, for that is impossible. Simply realize the truth; there is no box.

I freakin loved those games. It was my first "cd" I had for free with my first computer.

I really loved the story of the first one, beause of the Lovecraft style.

I enjoyed a little less the second cause of the mechanics and technologies and even the story but I still liked it.

For me, the third was not a mistake at all. The graphics was really good, the story as good as the first one. Still a bit back in the Lovecraft style they lost in the second. There were just that gameplay with 3rd person and weapons that I don't liked a lot.

So, if the 4 will look like the 3 or the 1, I think it will be fine for me. Even more if they respect the end story from the third. But since I see a lot of haters of 3 disliked the end :P I don't have a lot of hope about it.

That remember me those "real Fallout fans" only loving Fallout 1, 2 and tactics and spitting on the 3 before even tried it just cause it's been different. I'm one of those persons who think the 3 was very good but just different. For sure I prefered Fallout 1 and 2 (never tried tactics yet) about the 2d style and the story and a more adult game post-apocalyptic style universe in Fallout 2. But there was very good stuff too in Fallout 3.

Anyway, I'll be impatient for that one.

Nifty, I'm with Ash on this though, I was never good enough at stealth for thief, on the note about fallout 3, it was a fun game but most of the big fans hated it not only because how different it is but because Bethesda made a point of taking the lore of the first two and sh*ting down its throat.

If you love Thief 1 and 2 I hope you didn't forgot to play the fan missions. (there is a BUNCH of them, totaly free to download and play).

There is normal mish... and then is uber and kickass FM's.

It's a crime if you never tried them ;P some Fm's has been better with the graphics and the story than the original missions themselves.

I have a lot of favourite Fm's names that I don't remember, too many of them. I just have a few in mind (kinda long time I didn't play it)
A real crime to not try those ones:

- The 7th crystal
- the serie of "L'Arsène" (french made missions but all translated in english, look at "Gaëtane" under)
- Calendra's Legacy
- Omnious Bequest
- Rowena's Curse
- Autumn in Lampfire Hills
- The Seven Sisters
- Bloodstone Prison
- Lady Whitman's Disease
- Saturio Returns Home
- Dracula (serie)
- Bathory (serie) (mmm.... Bathory... :P)

My favorite style of missions is something starting very basicaly and then you will have a very dark story happening. Mysterious, kinda scary at times. Some others are already scary at the begining but then it's more about fighting and running... but usualy it's more about the hide and usual stuff but with a kickass story. Try them :)

you will find a lot of them here:

http://www.thief-thecircle.com/missions/
http://thiefmissions.com/search.cgi

In this last link, try all missions from the authors:
-"Gaëtane" (cf Gaetane)
(everything she made is a part of a serie so try to know what is the first one)
-"DrK (Kubiac)" (same thing, episods)
-"Szabó Csaba (Sensut)"

And to reply to Eleanore69:

Yea I loved fallout 1 and 2, and i'm one of the few who loved Tactics as well.

I was crying foul on three till I played it. I loved it, I did miss the heavy adult themes and sick humor, but it perfectly fit into the fallout world. Especially if you took your time and did all the side quests and exploring. And I loved fighting super mutants in downtown areas.

And the fallout three death claws, the first time I ran into one I about crapped myself. That thing tore me a new one.

I still would like to see another Fallout in the over head perspective of the originals.

Only fallout game I ever hated was the Xbox one.
