Ok, so I purchased the E-Cigarette. It is an electronic Cigarette, it is like a somkers passifier to an extent. It comes with cardriges tho that satisfy your nicotine desires and also you inhale just like a real cigarette and blow smoke as if you are smoking a real cigarette without all the harmful elements of smoking....It is heavier than a real cigarette so that takes some getting use to.

Today was my first true test of this and I must say of all the products I have tried so far to quit this seems the most promiseing. I have only had 4 real cigarettes today so far so that is like 9hrs for me and I useually smoke two packs per day. It is great for use at the PC or driveing in the car as well. I have noticed that I crave the real smokes so far in the morning when I wake up and after I eat. The rest of the day so far the E-Cigarette seems to satisfy me just fine.

Now the cost. Well I bought the gold edition and with tax it cost me 200 bucks, I know that may seem expensive but if it works it will certainly be well worth it as the cost of the Cigarettes seem to go higher and higher every month now. So for all you smokers out there that want to quit and find that you get nasty and irritable like I have in the past this may be the answere for you as well.

My first day so, I can not say it has worked but it seems very promising so far.

i've heard quite a few good things about this e-cig thingy....though, being a non cigarette smoker, i can't really tell if it's worth it or not...

Now, not to be pessimist or anything but just to share what I saw at tv 1 year ago about it, true or not I don't know I never tried it myself. Just thought I could share...

There is still supposed unhealthy stuff with the e-cigarette. Another thing it's about quiting. If you don't have the volounty to quit and try it, it will probably not work. It's especialy made for the act of smoking, the act that you are used to make with your hand to your lips. I read in any case it removes your envy to nicotine.

3/4 of time the people smoking in front of their pc, smoke the most of their cigarette just cause they are used to do it, cause they need something in their hand or on their lips, and what better than their usual cigarette. The rest of the time they smoke cause they really need it (for the dependency to nicotine). The e-cigarette is made for those times where you smoke cause you are used to take your cigarrete between your fingers and place it to your lips, not so much for the times you really need smoke for the nicotine.


Well, that's not from me, that's all what I remember. Sorry for my lack of words but I think you got it.

Now, you seems to say it's really working Jugsy so I'm glad for you.


Edit: that makes sense for me but who knows? If you don't smoke cigarretes don't try e-cigarrette for "the fun" just thinking it's not bad (or not as bad) for your health... It's not very well know in Belgium but I'm sure if people was more seeling it you'll not see a lot of dependant person buy them to quit but a lot of kids using it for the sake of not smoking real cigarettes and cause it's cool it's electronic kinda magic.

I read an article on MSNBC on e-cigs, and while I don't remember all of it, I do recall being in favor of them. No carcinogens to inhale and the "smoke" emitted doesn't smell. Thing to keep in mind is that the nicotine dose is much more potent, so you have to watch that since nicotine poisoning is possible.

Although I don't really see it as a device to help one quit, I'd sooner see someone use this than real cigs.

Yep well for me the desire to quit is really strong, I so do want to quit, and I smoke more out of habbit I think than the need. So I actually think that once I can wean the nicotine craveing from my body the need will be gone and as for the habbit I hope that too will cease once the chemicals are no longer needed. I have tried the gum the patches hypnosis tried cold turkey nothing has even remotely been sucessful so far. I have tried limiting my smokeing to one per every 2 hrs it did not work even tho I can go for hours with out a cig. when I was trying to watch the time I seemed to want it more. So now I just grab the fake one instead and really unless I am thinking about it as being fake it seems to do the job so far

I think as long as I can not dwell on it and just let it happen gradually it may work.

I don't have any clue about it but you may want to make some search about "Glycol Ether".

Good luck giving up the cigarettes. I tried many different methods to give up, but the one that worked for me was just to go cold turkey. It took numerous attempts and the willpower required was tremendous.

I felt awful for about a week, and still crave cigarettes even now. I have the occasional lapse when I've been drinking and willpower vanishes. Banning smoking in public places pretty much put paid to my smoking habit.

It helps not to have friends that smoke

heh I'm pretty much quitting by running myself out of cash. Seeing as I will have to wait at least 3 days before getting some more I'll literally be unable to buy jack (food is covered with meal plan). Should work out nicely will just be highly irritating.

If using the E-Cig gets even more nicotine into your body would that not even increase the addiction? I mean if it wass supposed to work I would think that this thingy should decrease the nicotine dose slowly and gradually until your body has learned to feel good with a dose so little that quitting entirely is no big deal anymore.

In my opinion (based on my own experiences and those of friends) to effectively quit smoking you have to change your habits. Much of the smoking seems to be a ritual: You get into your car and light a smoke, you finished eating and you light another one etc. A friend of mine switched from car to motorbike, eliminating one ritual. He then moved in with his girlfriend who is non-smoker and does not allow him to smoke in the flat. Another ritual eliminated. He told me that it was only hard for the first two days...
But then again you have to keep in mind the different personalities. Some people are just more vulnerable to addictions while others (lucky guys) can quit anytime they want.

I believe that the best method of quitting is simply to stop smoking, cold turkey. It requires much more willpower but you'll feel a whole lot better after 2-3 days when the nicotine is finally out of your system. Odd things like chewing gum and inhalers (all loaded with nicotine) wont help much as your body (aka your brain) will still be addicted to nicotine.

Most people think that as long as you don't smoke all is well.. Truth is, nicotine is just as toxic.

Here's what I did. I purchased a pack of smokes (to ease my mind.. I guarantee you that if you get rid of all your smokes you'll instantly start to worry where to get your next smoke), put the pack in a drawer and didn't touch it. I went cold turkey, drank lots & lots of water to speed up the process of getting the nicotine out of my body, got some baby carrots to keep my hands and mouth busy, stayed away from things where I tend to smoke a lot (the pc for one, AO pvp ftw ) and dealt with the withdrawals as they came along.

The first 2 days were brutal, I soooo wanted to smoke but I hang in there and during the 3rd or 4th day I could feel my body relax again and it was awesome. However during that period I slept for maybe 5 hours so do it on a weekend Also you'll experience neck/shoulder pains which is basically all the stress you have bottled up over the years, maybe even chest pains but all that should go away within a few days - If not see a doc just to make sure. You'll also feel more hungry as your cholesterol and blood pressure will return to normal. Don't eat fattening food but grab a salad, some carrots, fruit etc.

Anyway as with any product or method, some works better on others - I hope you stick to it and quit that nasty habit You'll save a ton of cash, you'll start to taste food again, your clothes and house/apartment will smell better, you'll feel energetic too etc. Win/Win. Just don't make the same mistake I did and go out for beers ... Beers = Gimme a smoke now!

The way to stop smoking in the morning/after meals is to just think of stuff you could be doing instead of smoking. I'm an avid trying-to-quit smoker but I have slowed down a LOT since the baby was born because I have to go outside now, which means I can't get anything else done. So instead of eating after I smoke I might feed the baby for awhile and forget about it, then the craving goes away without me even thinking about it.. in the morning I have to get up when he gets up and feed him or he turns into a fire siren.. so yeah.. no time to smoke there

No kidding. Not only because you don't want to be smoking around them, but cigarette monies could be used for diaper monies.

I was 'inspired' to quit smoking 3 years ago after a bout of bronchitis that was so bad it took over a month to get over, and involved 2 courses of antibiotics, and even a bloody inhaler. Stopped cold.

The major point in that though was that I wanted to quit. If someone doesn't really want to quit, they probably won't.

Dithy I think you bring a good point. I almost had the same thing during one of the 2 only rare 2 times I wanted to quit, except I had pneumonia.

I was certainly not able to smoke at all, I was not even able to sleep or just 1 hour a night. The bad part it's if I was single those days that happened I could have quitted it. But for sure it was damn too extreme to stop when YOU decide it's time for your partner to quit too the same way... :/ So... slowly the cigarette taste in the room gave my envy back.


What sucked more, and very ironic about that story, the only other time I wanted to quit was the days I saw my gf's mom dying slowly cause of the cigarette. The irony there is she passed away not long ago after and you can't ask your gf to not smoke in your room anymore where she used to smoke for 5 years and lose that habit when she lose the most important person in her life...

I guess I epic failed 2 times... never 2 without 3 but let's hope the third time will works better if there is any.

Well, I do believe you have to truely want to quit, I also know that no matter how badly you want to quit when you have been addicted to those damn things for over 40 yrs it is not an easy task, When I thought I was able to the last time after not smokeing for over 2 weeks in the hospital due to pnemonia, I thought well hell I have not smoked for so long now I won't do it when I leave, however the first time I was around another smoker that urge came back so strong I would have killed for a cigerette. I am lucky that my daughter doesnt smoke and hates the smell of it and she does remind me when she feels I am smokeing entirely too much...I watched my mom die from cigs. and I took care of her for her last 6 months of life. I swore I would quit too, and try as I did it did not happen, than with my cancer tho it was not lung cancer, I said this is it I have to quit, and so I have tried everything and anything , The E-Cigs have now cut me down greatly I do not light up first thing in the morning I do not wake up in the middle of the night for a smoke, I have gone from 2packs+ per day to less than half a pack now and I only really use the E-Cig when that need to smoke seems strong and I take maybe two or three hits and done for hours till I feel the need to again... So for me so far this is working,,I am hopeful it will be the soultion to a long life of addiction to a very nasty habit.
