I think when Funcom made Sillirion Game Director at AO it was one of the single besst things they could ever have done for that game. He got a lot accomplished and really genuinely had the wants and needs of the community in mind.

He leaves very big shoes for Means to fill. However, from what I've seen and my own limited interaction with him, I think he will do well for AO and continue on with the same commitment and quality that Sillirion had.

Putting him now as Game Director of Age of Conan is excellent news. Conan is a game with so much potential yet the many bugs and poor community relations have done it no favors. I have no doubt in my mind that Silirrion can right this ship and make it the game it was meant to be from the start. There is a lot of work to be done and he has to start first by gaining the trust and respect of the community. This is an obstacle that he did not really have to overcome in AO since most of us already loved and respected him as a Community Manager. However I know that he is up to the task.

I'm also pleased to see that Gaute Godager has decided to leave Funcom. I was afraid that they might try to shuffle him to The Secret World which is a project I'm very interested in so didn't want to see screwed up.

I couldn't help but think that it's about time Gaute got the hell away and stopped tainting every project he touched.

Not to mention that since now Sil is taking over as GD of AoC, I imagine it's going to magically become a lot less buggy ;D.

Gaute kinda has the touch of death with games >.<

he's a great "behind the scenes" director/manager and gets lot of the important shit done, but once the game went live he really shoulda been moved to a future project (TSW etc).

Silirrion pulled AO out of a dark depression with amazing content additions to AO's "stale" endgame /middle game stages along with alot of bug fixes the community had been asking for for a very long time. i got a lot of respect for this guy and i have no doubt that his successor to the throne Means can deliver the same level of Customer interaction and product development.

Age of Conan has had a bad rap since it's launch (too many people expected aoc to have the same amount of content and "completeness" as WoW/AO/SWG and any other recent MMO) and i know Silirrion has what it takes to get aoc where it was supposed to be, at the top of everyone's "omgholyshit this is awesome" MMO game list.

i wish both Silirrion and Means good luck with their new positions :D

This is what I was being all shut-up about at the tail end of D*Con this year. I agree with Vallikat on this. In my opinion, on the overall umbrella of Funcom, this is the best move they could make. They need Sil in the captain's chair on AoC right now more than anything. He'll be dreadfully missed in AO, but I've heard exceptionally good things (from Sil and elsewhere) about Colin, and I expect we won't be disappointed with his results in the future (especially considering the team of utter badasses they have behind the dev desks for AO right now).

I think Craig is just what the doctor ordered for AoC. :)

I hope it fixes AoC up without taking from AO. Just my 2 cents.

That's the thought. The dev team for AO is NOT shifting. Sil tells me that Colin is more than prepared for the job of leading them into the graphics update and beyond. My hopes are high. :)

I am sad to see Sil going to the game I've basically boycotted for personal reasons. Considering how excited I was to play it. However, I'm glad that he is joining that team because from what I hear, it needs help. Sil will be a great asset to them.

Means (Colin) is fantastic, and I am *super* glad it is him taking over as the GD. I only hope he remains as public as Sil was. Letters once a month if not more, etc.

Means was very talkative to the professionals on test, and in the prof. forums. I've seen posts from Means for the general player base as well. Not sure if he'll continue the letters to the players though.

Well, I am a very very devoted AO fan, I can not see that changeing at all in the near future...I have purchased and do intend to at least TRY AoC...I have heard a lot of good things about it and a lot more Bad unfortuneately...AoC surely needs fixing....I have not even loaded it into my PC yet...I am hopeing a few of the bugs will be gone before I get there. I hate bugs, and even AO has a few but they do not enter my game play unless the DJ can not tune in....I do not understand a thing about code only that it takes a shit load of time and Exps.... I only know for sure that Funcom. is devoted to its player base and will do try and spend anything to make it the best one ever....

I also am glad to hear that Sil will be heading over to AoC. It has great potential but is in desperate need of a shot of energy.

Good luck to Craig.

But the big question is, does Colin listen to GSP?
If he does he has my full blessing for leading AO through the years to come :)
If not, someone send him the link to the site please :P
