Even tho I was never a fan of Star Trek it's good to see another sci-fi MMO enter the market.

Yeah been keeping my eye on this one for a while. I love my sci-fi. There aren't to many sci-fi mmos out there and the ones I tried I don't care to much for. EA should really make an Earth and Beyond 2 or sell the rights to the first one so someone else can make it... /sigh stupid EA lol.

Reminds me of:

Two young girls were over heard talking in a record store.

One said to the other.

"Did you know that Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings?"

I'm a trekkie from waaay back. I'd wait until my mom was asleep and sneak into the front room to watch it late, late at night. Next Generation would be on first, sometimes 2 episodes, then the original would be on. I was 9 at the time....I had such a crush on Wil Wheaton, and I wanted Spock to be my teacher at school. I thought he would be a better teacher, since I was getting bored easily in class.

I am definitely wanting to take a look at that.

My dear, I'd go Klingon on that game.

All joking aside, I will give it a try. That being said, the game has, just like Warhammer Online and other games based on High-profile IP's, has an insane fall-height. If they don't get it exactly right from launch, I'll be as bold to say that they'll take a major firestorm from the trekkies. Just like SoE/Lucasarts caught when they introduced the CU and NGE to SWG.

To be fair to Trekkies (yay me), SoE did a bait-and-switch on their last expansion and that's generally what pissed people off more than anything else. Two days after the Trials of Obi-wan expansion went live, SoE destroyed it's content and left some of the promises -on the box of the expansion- unfulfilled by instating the NGE. That almost got 'em a class-action lawsuit.

To top it off, there'd been rumors of the NGE and the SoE forum and community reps (people paid by SoE mind you) were given no info at all other than "Nope, isn't happening." from higher up. Quite a few of them resigned after they released they'd been essentially lying to the people they were supposed to help for nearly a year.

SoE = bad juju. I'm hoping this one goes a lot better, even with a crappy launch I don't think it could approach the level of the whole SoE/SWG/NGE debacle.

So SoE almost got sued because of advertising features on the box, but then did not even put them in game. Hmmm sounds extremely familiar ...............
