i'd have never have seen that coming, but it shows the world has hope yet

Never ... underestimate the power of (un)common courtesy *grins*

everyone else saw a kid who was trouble......
he saw a kid 'in' trouble ....
and he treated the kid as a fellow human being not as a criminal

now if he(the kid) had been determined to be violent, the guy would have been out at least his wallet and coat. As it happens he was only out twenty dollars and may very well have changed that kid's life for the better.

Showed the linked article to some folks I work with at the local American Red Cross *smiles* they got a huge kick out of the story

Judging by the beating that a high school girl recieved here in Florida recently (at least the story broke recently), the man would have still taken the wallet and been gone, if not done something worse.

I do enjoy reading these positive stories.

Nice story, wish that happened more often. I don't think that'd happen around here, muggings are pretty uncommon but they tend to be more violent when they do happen.

Only time anyone ever tried to mug me they got a "You've gotta be kidding me, get outta here kid." and they left, course I had my hand on mine when I said that I guess being 6'2" and wearing a big black duster with your hand inside it tends to make people think twice about their plans.
