New AO engine video - Awesome!

Postby Bluerush2 » Sat Jan 19, 2008 8:49 pm

So FC is working hard on the new engine for Anarchy Online, and my gawd it looks good!
This is fresh off the bat! Check it out right here: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/user ... 62623.html

GREAT FIND BLUE!
The water engine looks really great! But that was never my main concern with what new players find horrible about AO in it's current graphical state compared to other MMOs out there, its always been the ground/lighting rendering radius that I always hear as the major complaint, expecially on Rubi-Ka and with the new content being unproportionally more advanced looking, and if this video is indeed not faked, then it looks like they have that all worked out!

It may not be completly up to date, and it may not be perfect, but this is a definate improvement and makes me want to fork over the cash already to reactivate my account. If anyone has been wondering (doubtful) I've been currently taking a break from AO for holiday release games, mostly Hellgate London online, Mass Effect, 2moons, Tabula Rasa, ect.

If this is the way it is going to look, I look forward to an entirely new game while keeping the same structures we all know so well.

I've got to be a bit of a neighsayer here, but while it looks shiney, I'm not entirely sure that it appeals too much to me.. too much polish.. doesn't look quite right.

not to mention, how will it look with people in it? that's the question

Dont' worry Ceryn, this is just a internal/alpha, they'll be tweaking this thing even more beyond this.

It is very very great but... now my personal question is "Could I be able to use AO on my machine in the future..." :?

Actual ao graphics are not great but at least I can play the game.
I have not the money to buy a new computer, so I just hope my AMD Athlon 64x2 3800, 2Gb Ram and my Geforce6800 GS/XT could be sufficient for this next AO engine or you could not be able to see me in game anymore before a very long time...

But yes... it looks awesome.

I second that motion! Eons ago with the release of Shadowlands, they claimed they were going to revamp the graphics with the release of the expansion. They did... is no much as the products released with the expansion looked good but the rest of AO was comparitivly ass.

Now, all we need is to see the player models, the badies, leets, rollerrats, and Bosses (Absy o' the Subway comes to mind. :P )
Like a Punk.
