Sounds like the MMO card is being tapped (after the Feature Film card, the comic books card, table top RPG card).

There is definately a rich enough multiverse to play with.
Who's up for the Blue Sun Coalition?

I hate to be the party pooper, but several key notes highlight this:
1. It's been publicized as in production for about 2 years now, it's definitely not news.
2. "It" from #1 refers to the "Multiverse" game engine, with a first release BEING the Firefly MMO.
3. The Multiverse game engine is an uber-generic low-budget MMO engine that the company wants to license out so that small-timers can design their own MMO's cheaply. It's going to be like a crappier Second Life, basically (hard to imagine such a feat is possible).
The Firefly MMO is basically just an advertisement by Multiverse, to show "what can be done" with their generic game engine. This means that chances are very good that it will NOT be a decent game, only barely playable, and with no support or expansions whatsoever. I doubt they'll even get the names and locales right, it's probably going to be butchered from some dev team leader who never even watched the series and is basing all data off the back of the Firefly box and a couple emails from fans.
I will not be supporting these people under these conditions.
(yes, I'm also slightly bitter because Funcom actually PASSED UP securing the rights to the Firefly MMO when they grabbed Conan, letting the Firefly rights fall in the hands of some dollar-hungry third-rate developers that no-one's heard of)

Meh, I'm just waiting for the Warhammer 40K mmo.. I hope it's gonna be a shooter ala Planetside but better.

Pirates of the Burning Sea for me. Why? Because there's Grog and Wenches to be had! (yep, you can play as a pirate, but I'll be a British Naval Officer

You just KNOW that every WoW-kiddie out there will go pirate and then bitch because of the limitations

Well, on a lighter note, I'll have no choice but to at least give it a try, and I desperately hope to be proven very, very wrong.

Coincidentally I've been meaning post about that....I tried the open beta, though I missed most of it

I enjoyed it enough I think I'm going to pre-order and was wondering if anyone else was planning on playing. Had you picked a server?

I was playing under both the closed and open beta's, and I'll be found on either Rackham or Morgan on the US side. From what the devs have said, the servers will NOT be split, so that Euro's can play on the US servers etc. Morgan looks to be the unofficial RP-server , so that's where you'll find the brothers Rose (Gabriel and Jeremiah. I'll be playing Jeremiah
