Get a cellphone with that feature. Most cellphone these days can play AAC. I know my cellphone survived the last trip over to the US, playing music constantly from when I left sweden til I landed in the US.

The phone I have is a P990i.

Another popular player is the iPod. According to the specs a 8gb iPod Nano it has 24h of battery time. My friend has one, and it's defintly a good choice if you wanna play music. It also has a display so you can see and browse among the music.

last time I was on the plane wasn't aloud phones on... and though I can upgrade my phone it'd take to long to get to me...

The iPod I won't touch with a barge pole... I have a severe disliking of apple... and also all the apple stuff over here is way more than other variants of the same size...

I have a Creative Zen Nano that I love. I can put folders on it and select them, runs on 2 AAA batteries and I'll be damned if that bitch runs out on a trip to Boston and back (i.e. 16 hours or so)

Yeah, planes don't like the cell phones being on for anything.

I've heard good things about the nanos, so I'll side with Dani. beyond that, I'm zero help, as I believe personal mp3 players to be the work of Satan. :)

All cell phones have airplane mode which turns off send/recieve capabilities so you can play games and listen to music.

As for a player.....I'd go with creative. I've heard great things about them.

Creative Zens are a very nice choice. I still want to get my hands on a ZV:M to mess around with. So far my Zune has met all my demands and then some. Here is a spec chart with the three top dogs (iPod, Zune, Zen).

I have a 5G iPod

Despite the fact that you need to install RockBox or iPod Linux on one of those things to get support for any decent file formats they're nice little toys. I had my 4G for several years before I upgraded and gave it to Eadaoin.

Although I hate iTunes, not sure what the alternatives are in windows, but if you're ever in Linux gtkPod is good for updates and AmaroK is a pretty good iTunes replacement that even has it's own music store.

ok amusing thing, went with one from a group called Cowon... thats kinda boring and not the amusing thing... the amusing thing is after getting it to keep myself entertained on the plane over/back... I never used an MP3 player on the plane >.< still came in handy when I woke up stupidly early the first day there...

*snickers* lucky you, I kept waking up several hours late for everything, you have no idea how many things I missed because I kept waking up to housekeeping rather than in the morning like I should have.
