Well this is weird. Not even any information about how you are supposed to "listen" to said band. And they are using ICC. I think we should have a gsp vs. verizon brawl! And why would you not be invited if you aren't from North America? Cause they are gonna spamvertise during it?

Actually this might be pretty cool. We'll see :)

Community Update 3rd August 2007

In Game Concert Announced

In a special event next weekend, we have teamed up with our partners at Massive and Verizon Wireless to provide a great in-game concert event.

Preparations have been completed for the grand concert in the ICC area in Andromeda and we invite all North America-based citizens of Rubi-Ka to attend this unique musical event.

The concert features The All-American Rejects and the event kicks off at 7PM Eastern Time on August 12, 2007 (To figure out what that means in your local time check here ).

Keep your eyes peeled for teasers and more information during the coming week for this exciting event!

As far as I know it will utilize the same technology as with the video-style billboards in-game.

I'm still working on a way to legally rebroadcast it for non-north-americans. No garauntees yet. :)

since the broadcast itself will be streaming on the video boards in the ICC, if people that aren't at in North America go, they will just see blank screens, this is due to the way the vid boards normally work, and only give you localised advertising (for example, north americans don't get advertising for the UK tv station, Channel 4)

The gig itself is more than likely a prerecorded one, and any sign of the 'band' in game is likely to be courtesy of ARK events.

Yes, I am being cynical about this, but I have one hell of a headache and am somewhat cranky.

Oh, they will put it up on the video board thingys in ICC, and that content is regionalized like the fr00b advertisements. Makes sense now. Just not what I thought :(

Blah, I was hoping the band had made some kind of toons and would be pretending to "play", uhm, somehow. A video on a screen...sigh. I'm sure you are right it won't be live either.

At least it will be something new to check out. And hopefully it brought in some income for Funcom.
