You and me both. I won't touch a phone if it's not a Flip phone. I'll wait for the Flip Iphone. ;)

Main reason to not buy an iPhone: Price + capabilities plus the fact that I'll be locked to one specific carrier (which most likely won't be the one I've got through work).

The iPhone, while having a high Cool-factor, just isn't good enough in terms of capabilities vs price. It doesn't have 3G communication, the battery cannot be changed by end-user, can't play MP3's directly (have to port them through iTunes, as far as I've understood), can't use an MP3 as a ringtone, doesn't have games, cannot record video, cannot send image/videomessages (MMS is used here in Norway) and a few other things (including synchronization with a computer, built-in pushmail etc). Of course, most of these things are trivial. But when the pricetag of the phone will be something like $1000 here in Norway when it's released later this year, and it'll still be lacking these functions which you can get in a phone for half of the pricetag on an iPhone....I don't see why I should bother. Think I'll just keep the one I have now, which has all the things the iPhone lacks AND only cost me about a 1/6th of the iPhone retail-price.

Agreed all-around, I need a flip-phone.

Stupid thing about my current phone is that it's a flip-phone, but has an outside screen. So it's naturally getting torn up. Worse yet, the only way to conveniently turn the outside screen on to read the display is to open the phone.

...

Allow me to repeat that: The only way to conveniently turn the outside screen on, is to FLIP OPEN THE PHONE.

i never use flip phones, i just dont like em, and i dont see how people tear non flip phones up. i work in an auto shop, and my screen is just about perfect, the only scratch on it is from one of my ear rings i think :P but like Miv said, the iphone not worth the price of admission. Anyone remember the Nokia Ngage? its going to flop, or they will have to lower the price and open up some options for it to really take in the mainstream market i think

My last phone was a phone with a camera and it took crappy pictures.

My current phone is a camera with a phone stuck on it, and I love it to bits (just need more memory... I used to take a ton of pics even when I had to get the film processed - I'm a billion times worse with digital)

I don't care if the face gets scratched to bits, as long as the lens cover protects the important bit...

I love my Mac to bits for design work and wouldn't trade it for the world, but for anything apart from the actual box itself - graphics pad, screen, even the extra RAM - I refuse to buy Mac. While Apple stuff usually does work very well, it's still very very VERY overpriced (which is a whole two extra very's) and you can usually find an alternative with the same quality but a far more realistic price tag.

Not looked into the phone yet as I have no interest in trading... but I'm sure that if that's not already the case with the iPhone, it will be within the year...

I feel for you, T-man, I really do. :)
But I'm going to snidely giggle, and question what it says about you, who actually bought the phone. hehehe
