I can only hope that the person who inflicted that torture on the mouse was killed in a severely pain inducing manner. Even if the Mouse was dead that was a cruel and indecent thing to do.

That is some messed up values you have there. No matter how sick and twisted the individual in question may be, taking the life of a human is not the same as taking that of a mouse...

I kinda figured some people wouldn't like this because if it being dead. I for one found it rather funny.

We have no idea if this mouse was killed in a painful manner. For goodness sakes, it could've been some one's well-cared for pet that died of natural causes for all we know. Regardless, once it was dead, it was surely not tortured on any level. Trust me, the mouse carcass had no clue that any part of this video was made.

Anyway, I thought it was funny Kash...at least for the first couple minutes. Got a bit repetitive after that. But I surely didn't find it cruel. It was twisted, but maybe that's what I liked about it. :)

Well I suppose valuing the dignity of any living creature be it rodent or man is out of fashion these days. I suppose equating the abuse of a dead anything as being sick and twisted isn't the popular sentiment anymore.

If someone did the same thing to a dead human the police would be tearing down their door and stuffing them into a cell so fast it wouldn't be funny. You'll forgive me if I believe that all living beings are entitled to the same respect. That it's Hypocracy to claim dignity for human dead then treat animals as if they were objects for our amusement.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not some vegan prosletizing against use of animals. Animals raised to become food or kept as pets are when properly treated happier and live longer than wild ones on average. What I am against is abuse. Particularly abuse for no purpose other than amusement. Which that video clearly was.

I'm tending to agree with Fishi3 here. She explained my thoughts pretty much to a "T" heh. I hunt animals for food but watching that video just made me a bit sick (not physically, but emotionally).

It's not that I think that the video wasn't wrong. It was twisted and sick in my opinion. But to wish a severely painful death ofn the person is just as wrong in my opinion, even if it is a hyperbole. Living being will always trump dead one, in my view.

I just want to point out one thing: it wasn't a living creature, it was dead. It was quite unaware of what was happening to it.

It was sick and twisted and in the beginning, I laughed. I guess that makes me sick and twisted, a fact I don't deny, at least as far as my sense of humor can tend to go. But they were not torturing or harming the mouse on any level.

Also, I agree with Nico in that I consider a human life worth more than that of a mouse. Sorry, but to wish someone a painful death simply because they have a warped and childish sense of humor is taking this WAY too far in my opinion.

While true that the mouse was dead there are religions that believe that the sould remains with the body and is only released when the body has eventually completely decomposed. This logically would appy to all living beings not just people. As for wishing the person a painful death. I suppose it was wrong of me to do so. But like most people I tend to be reactionary when offended and that video truely offended me.

A nice little quote I found on the video's page:

Ghandi wrote:
The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

I have to echo Vallikat's statement and point out that you mentioned 3 times the phrase "living creatures", and the creature was, in fact, quite deceased. If you are going to feel moral outrage, at least direct it at the many MANY cases of abuse against men and animals in the world today.

And yes, how a society treats animals does reflect on the morals of the society. However I would argue that how it treats deceased corpses of vermin is not.

Were you likewise offended by Monty Python's Dead Parrot sketch?

If I could access Youtube at work I would call this one up for those of you who are unaware, but I'm sure if you do a search, its almost assuredly there. If there has ever been finer dead animal humor, I defy you to show it to me!
