45 Days Is Not Enough....

F&%$ Paris Hilton! She should have got a couple years for breaking her probation...twice....dumb bitch. The most f&%ed up thing about this though? She'll be getting twice the media and she can probably make a frigg'n reality tv show out of it as well! I hope she gets ass raped by some really "Large and In Charge" kind of women, if you know what I mean ;).

3 Cheers to the Judge though! Too bad he's on the hilton black list and will never be able to stay in one of their hotels ever again (I'm just speculating on the black list thing, but I wouldn't rule it out).

I can't say that I care much about Hilton. :)
Or any celeb for that matter.

Unless it's me!

Meenie, does the fact that I could "see" you freaking out about this when reading it, scare you? It scares me...

When I heard about PH going into prison (and her consequent whining about it being unfair etc), I wasn't very suprised. Just as I won't be very suprised if it becomes yet another idiotic TV-show. And, of course, Oprah and whatnot.

What a waste of cellular material....

I find it most funny she used the excuse of your manager telling her it was ok to drive. That may or may not have happened, but she's a big girl and should be able to count until 45 on her own.

That's like using the excuse my dog ate my homework...

Did you hear she appealed it too? I don't know what grounds she has to stand on for that, but yeah... I hope she gets the 45 days and becomes someone's .... and that she doesn't get special treatment from it.

I heard she is going to try and get Schwarzenegger to pardon her, so she won't have to spend 45 days in what will probably be a very low security institution, (I'd say resort, but you never know if the judge is pissed enough he could make her pick up trash for 45 days).

As if the penalty of 45 days weren't enough of an insult to the sense of justice of the average person, the fact that she just got her sentence halved to 23 days AND will be kept separate from the other inmates is, frankly speaking, a fist in the face the the concept that everyone is equal to the law. It is quite clear that people are NOT equal in the eyes of Justice, but rather that if you're a celebrity (even though you should not be one in the first place) and have enough money/status, you will get off easier than the common Jane/Joe.

Being kept separate from the general population I can kind of understand. The justice system, at least the US version of it, is supposed to rehab the criminals. That's not possible if they're getting raped and tortured and threatened by being in the general population. Now some would say she deserves it. Unless its a violent crime that was committed I don't believe anyone deserves that, and neither does our justice system. So we "protect and serve" (exactly like our police officers slogan) the inmates by separating them from the general population for their protection, not because they're rich or famous.

As for getting her sentence cut short, it will still go on record as being 45 days, just with time off for good behavior. That is how our system has always worked for non-violent/non-life sentence crimes. You be a good boy/girl/prisoner, you get good behavior credit and get released early.

Time off for "good behavior" though?

Seriously, I see no good behavior from her...

The whole reality of this situation is that when she gets out of jail time, she will not be rehabilitated. She's gonna go on and do her own thing and still be a really bad role model to kids and teenagers. Maybe she will find her way and become a better person while she's in jail......probably not though. She's just gonna use this experience to make money and exploit how she got "miss-treated".

I agree, I've never heard of good-behavior time being granted before prison term gets started, but to the prison good behavior isnt visible to us on the outside. It's simply doing what you're told, and causing no scenes while locked up. She could totally throw a fit, shoot someone, then go serve her 45 days, and still get out in the 23 days if she doesn't do anything wrong inside. Thats just how the system works.

I personally believe that celebrities need to be held to a *higher* sense of accountability due to the fact that whether they like it or not, young people DO look up to them. However, in the US, thats not possible since everyone is supposed to be equal in the eyes of the law.

well i read today, that part of her good behaviour was showing up in court, which isn't good behaviour, it's part of the process. I also saw that she got her licence back.

But she is not being treated like everyone else, because she is a celebrity. You what she could turn the 23 days into a new reality show "The Simple Life goes to Jail".

Talidro,

Although you make a valid point on the protection of the inmates.. it is invalid. They are offering her and only her the protection that they all should be getting.

Everyday there are people getting raped, beaten and killed in jails across this country and no one cares. The only reason they are doing this is because she is a celeb. An unattractive one, yes.. but she is one, and so she has a status that is "saving" her from the normal tortures that happen in the average jail.

She will not learn a thing in 45 days in there with this status, let alone 23 days. She will return to partying and then to her car where she will DUI on her good behavior until the worst happens and she kills either herself or someone else in the process. She will turn and blame it on someone else she can fire and then get a shortened jail sentence because she gave the judge and jury head.

I have no pity for her or any other celeb or person that can't take responsibility for their own actions and make their payment where payment is due. In this case it is 45 days in the prison like every one else that does the same thing.

Taking herself out doing silly wouldn't bother many people...taking it someone else DUI would be very sad :(
