Optical illusions.

If your eyes follow the movement of the rotating pink dot, you will only see one color, pink.

However if you stare at the black "+" in the center,
the moving dot turns to green.

Now, concentrate real hard on the black "+" in the center of the picture.
After a short period, all the pink dots will slowly disappear, and you will only see a green dot rotating.

It's amazing how our brain works. There really is no green dot, and the pink ones really don't disappear. This should be proof enough, we don't always see what we think we see.

Bah humbug extensioin BMP not allowed. So can't put this up.

Ty Tarryk. Found it. :)

There's either a youtube or a myspace link (or both) to a movie file with that exact optical effect, if you want to hunt it down and link it up. It is indeed pretty cool how it works.

This is one that'll give your eyes a bit of a workout, but if you sit through it, the aftereffect when you look away is pretty amazing.

They were both awesome! :)

I never quite got to the point where the pink ones disappeared. But it was still neat to see the "green" one spin around :)

And yeah Tk, who needs drugs when you can just do that ;)

Heehee!

Oh yeah, I checked that youtube link, and it's a little "broken" because the contrast is so high, I couldn't get the pink dots to disappear either. There was another one that was linked from myspace that was the first one I saw though, and it worked perfectly. Too perfect, in fact, because I hadn't understood what it was supposed to be showing me, and I kept replaying the movie trying to pinpoint the moment when the pink dots actually disappeared, haha!
