Well I expect alot of idiocy when I deal with Microsft but this latest bit seems more than the average dumb to me.

I run on ME. I hate the system I'd update in the blink of an eye if it didn't cost 200+ dollars to do it. What has NS done now? Well I get a critical update notice. So I go to windows update. But wait I can't get to the windows update site. I'm being told it's only for people using a windows OS. Is ME no longer a windows OS? In fact I'm being told to go to the MS Mac products support page. I don't own a Mac or run a Apple OS.

MS you so funny.... Not...

N O O O O !!!!! pweese don't get rid of MSme! It loves joo! Or at least it loved meh. I have a storage rack full of the perfectly good, working in top notch condition items that won't work with a single MS platform other than MSme, and a few of the things work with version prior all the way back to Win3.1. My scanner, my pen tablet, my digicamera and even my orb mouse (kickin' it early 90's style!) DONT work with XP!

MSme IS a WINOS, however, MS had to be a beh-sterd (spork's note, b^stard should always be said in a scottish accent for best effect.) and discontinue service for the platform, so any updates, service packs etc that come out for MS products, don't apply to MSme. I would suggest setting up your MSme system behind a reliable firewall if its hot 24/7 like with cable or dsl etc. and chances are with a computer you purchased running MSme, you could likely find a packaged system running Xp or even vista (gotta remember them thar rebate things) for what it would cost to update your box/ OS to be able to run Xp pro, or vista.

MS officially dropped support of 98/ME last year sometime.. so they're probably grouping you with DOS, Win3.1 and Win95 or something. lol

There's always the Microsoft store if ya know anyone that works there.. retail's about 1/10th of normal for employees. I got my copy of XP Pro for $20.

Why is MS store 1/10 retail cost for employees?

It's the only way to get them to buy the products! *ba-da ch-ing*

If you are a student or know someone that is a student they get software REALLY cheap.

Also, I have a dead XP Home laptop that you can have the key from if you want it. the key is legit and not being used on any other system so it would even be a legal copy. I can even ship you the XP disc if you want.

ME was the redheaded stepchild of MS OSs... they haven't really supported it for a lot longer then a year. 98SE was still supported up til last year sometime. Send me a PM if you want it. I would be more then happy to give it to ya!

*hugs*
