Orange girls, yellow cartoons, emotional music, green colors by white smoke?

2 days ago i read some article on wikipedia, and saw a link about hearing colors or something, clicked, and saw this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia

Ok, after seeing some in it, i realized i knew about the penomenom from norwegian literature, it just got no real norwegian name. Just, some special ppl hear sound, and think it got color. ok.

Then i read, saw in the links, imagined how crappy it would be to be a kid seeing letters in books glow red, blue, or sit and wonder why others dont think a sound is green, etc.

And saw longer down about "auras". Hmm, THAT got me thinking, never heard THAT connected to synesthesia...

Well, THAT was sort of a known experience, one reason ive read about every crappy "new age" book ive seen for a long time.

And, from sitting and wondering "omg, they must have a funny world, blue music??", i sort of got into searching about it.

I also started to get thinking on if i got more examples of it, hmm.

If i get in a crazy party mood (not nescesarily drinking), i do remember i have "seen colors" (music). I also remember in army, tear gas felt not just horrible, but was first flickering, then deeep DEEP grass green. Hmm.

So, anyone of you who actually got some touch, or know of this phenomenom?

One thing ive been shure of always, is "auras" is not usefull for most part. Noone who see them, ever agree in anything, no book ever got anything "right".

And aside from my few musical experiences, do tear gas (CS gas) make one see green? i no longer think so, for all at least. I atm find no reason for it to make one SEE green, i though it was a property of the gas at the time

I have an (internet) friend in America who does experience synaesthesia, specifically sound -> vision. From what she says, it took her a while to catch on that she was unusual, as lots of people talk about music making them picture images, so she never realised that most people don't actually visualise complex images with perfect clarity, depending on the tone and rhuthmns rather than the lyrical content or emotional quality of the music. She's posted quite a few "translations" of music as she sees it, and it's extraordinarily complex and nothing like a music video plotline or the like - more like "at this point, the ragged yellow is overlaid with streaks of red and purple that kind of wind round each other as they fill everything.) She says it's entirely consitent every time she listens to a song.

I've never considered it as a source for the ideas surrounding auras before. Although interestingly, there was an article a while back about a group of scientists that had discovered that human skin emits a very low level of light, probably as a waste product of chemical reactions, and that healthy skin emits more than unhelathy cells. I did kind of wonder if, way back before there was medicine, or even shamonic healers, human creatures could on some level register this light emission and use it to judge if an individual was healthy (expansive, glowing aura = good) or was inwardly sickly and should be shunned (faint, shrunken aura = evil). It's unlikely, especially since the levels are so miniscule, but I liked the idea.

(I'm always intrigued by the idea that "supernatural" phenomena might have an evolutionary basis, a kind of mental appendix that we outgrew the need for but still hangs around and sometimes explodes messily, ever since I heard all the theories that visions, deja-vu and even prohpets that heard gods may be down to a time when the connections between the left and right hemispheres of the brain were far less integrated, so one side got on with the day to day eat-hump-fight-run side of living, and for the bigger stuff, like "move north for the nexy few months", the other half sent in a message in the form f a visualisation. This is probably just a pretty scientific myth - if it hasn't already been disproved - but I always likes the idea that some of our mythologies may be burried deep in bits of our bodies that are not longer needed, but still toss and turn in their dreams occasionally and nudge us gently.)

Auras i see dont got anything about health to do, or my relation to them, its about as if i perceives some sort of qualities about people, and it dont always "matter" if i see the colors more or less inside my head as a simple image, or if i see the glow around them. Its usually the same.

Oddly, i also is able to perceive a cartoon character's aura, so i dont "see" a soul to a person,or its bio magnetic energy, or something as that. Also, some persons i cant tell one jot about, or get any sort of "feel" what they are for types, what they feel, mean, or anything. Im not superhuman in knowing people.

Its like i sense persons, their qualities, or the qualities of a imagined persona, more or less "feels", and then i may get the color, or i simply can look at a persons head, and see the aura color. Often i dont sense anything without "seeing" on the aura, however im to explain that, but i may sense it notherless. I got the impression auras is about personalities.

And, the colors sometime HAVE suprised me, i may as example dislike a person, and he/she's aura seem quite innocent. I dont seem to control the color selection, or its purpose, meaning, etc.

More examples i could think of? hmm. I do remember seeing colors when i was in a good mood, or when i experienced my first crush. Some hazy stuff(not too often, most of my daily life is quite "commonly" colored).

More, when i read alternative "new age" books to explain aura's, all told me to meditate. and when i tried, all i experienced, was colors. I seem to loose focus, get distracted, thoughts swirling, colors, etc.
Ive read some of those books, yes. Ive not really practiced or concidered most of them interesting. I do got a sort of interest in Wicca and neopagan ideas, though.
