I'm cat sitting this weekend. Two very affectionate and smart Tom cats. Both are of course fixed long ago so never developed the bad habit that Toms are famous for of marking everything.
I have had cats in my life pretty much all my life. My Mother always had a cat till recently. Most of the cats in my life were female. All but one tended to be standoffish.
So I'm thinking that maybe Tom cats are more affectionate. I suppose that'ld even make sense. But why hadn't I noticed this before?
In any case I was also amazed at how polite these cats are about eating. Each has it's bowl and only eats from it's bowl. Even when it's bowl is empty and the other has food it will ask for food rather than invade the bowl with food. I've never seem cats do that before. Usually feeding mutiple cats is like a ballet. One cat starts eating the other takes a bite from the 2nd bowl then the first nudges over to sample the 2nd bowl while the 2nd moves to the open bowl. Repeat. Might be a dominance game or just a the grass is greener thing. But just to say these cats are acting different.
