Wonder why?

Because Jewel Staite will be a recurring character in half of season 4's episodes.

*hears Tarryk's heart flutter from Jewel Staite starvation*

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go shop for a nice tombstone and urn.

Always a flair for projecting your infatuations on me, Griddy. :)

Yeah, I heard a couple months ago that she'd be reprised in a new role on Atlantis. I plan on grabbing it...once it's out on DVD in 3 years. :P

Doesn't hold the same weight, but Alan Tudyk played a creepy child molestor on a recent CSI. Take how sweet and lovable he always was as Wash and insert creepy instead. :shiver:

Yah, I watched that one! It was certainly a difference. Quite the good actor.

Nathan Fillion's score an episode of Lost as well this year, and he's currently qeued to be in White Noise 2.

Adam Baldwin FINALLY scored himself a sweet gig (I hope it's good, anyway), cleaning himself up as a suited main character in the series "Day Break" on ABC.

EDIT: DUDE!! I just looked it up: http://abc.go.com/primetime/schedule/20 ... break.html

This series is like a remake of "12:01" and "Groundhog Day", bout a dude who's framed for murder but has to continuously relive the day of his accusation over and over. Veerrrrry interesting, I want to see this. :)

Whoa, if that's the same 12:01 I'm thinking of, then I also want to see this. :) I loved that movie back in the day. A repeating day where death isn't even an escape.... PHEW! :P

Actually, Paramount has been good at getting them out pretty quickly. Atlantis Season 3 started in July, and the Season 2 DVD was out a few weeks later in August.

I've watched the first 3 episodes and it is rock'n man! Definitely worth catching on Wednesday nights :D.

Jewel Staite will get a semi-regular cast char in Season 4 of Stargate Atlantis, as the medical chief, replacing (sadly) the current awesome scottsman who mysteriously vanish in the latter half of season 3.

Seeing her popularity among Firefly fans like Tarryk Stargate Atlantis may lure in some Firefly fans I think :)
I guess gratulations is in order, as Stargate series is supposedly one helluva cool place to work.

Where did Scottsman disapear to? I only ever watch if SGA is between SG1 and Battlestar Galactica, or if Richard Gene Anderson is guest starring. :) But I did sorta like that doc guy.

There's always been a sort of link-up between the Stargate series and Firefly. It might have something to do with the fact that most (perhaps all?) of the cast of Firefly is canadian, as is the Stargate SG-1/Atlantis crew & cast. Adam Baldwin was the first to guest star in Stargate SG-1 in 2004, and the current season (10?) of Stargate SG-1 has Morena Baccarin (Inara) popping in regularly as the "Adria" character this year.

My sister's been a regular fan of both Stargates since the dawn of time, so she's always keen to tell me when a Firefly cast member pops in, hehe.

Yeah! A lot of the US Sci-Fi shows has Canadian actors in them. (I wonder why?) So guest roles or semi-regular roles in the Stargate series is easy for them I guess, heck I'm sure almost most of them are in the "casting pool" lists of Stargate.

Tarryk wrote:Adam Baldwin was the first to guest star in Stargate SG-1 in 2004, and the current season (10?)
Yeah the last SG-1 season *sniffle* two movies are said to be made though after season 10. (shooting has ended already for season 10)
Tarryk wrote:of Stargate SG-1 has Morena Baccarin (Inara) popping in regularly as the "Adria" character this year.
Yeah and then there's a bunch from Farscape like Ben Bowder and Claudia Black. (make sure you see the 200th Stargate SG-1 ep where they do a a short parody of Farscape but with a few surprises as whom is who. Plus a ton of inside/fan jokes though the whole ep.

Here's hoping Atlantis goes on for many more years, and that SG-1 get picked up again (assuming the bastards at Sci-Fi release the ball grip they have at prevent (yes preventing) a season 11 being made for other stations), and the two feature movies coming is mega cool. And Amanda Tapping will guest star on Atlantis. And rumors of a possible spinoff (nicknamed Stargate Command so far)

The Stargate franchise has one of the best production teams I've seen, and their special effects beats most medium budgeted movies even.
I still can't fathom Sci-Fi did not renew SG-1, so what if ratings was low, the syndication of SG-1 alone is worth ten times that of any ratings.

*rant rant rant*

All Sci-Fi need to do is tear up or redo the contract so another station can pick up season 11 (Europe is very interested it seems). If SG-1 get manhandled this way, what are the chances of say Firefly returning? It's a fight of principles and I do hope Sci-Fi caves in...

*out of breath*

All good things must come to an end. :) Unfortunate as it is.
I stopped watching shortly after Richard Gene Anderson left (to be with his fam more), but I catch an occational ep, and I make sure to tune in when Mr Anderson (hee!) is schedualed to guest star.

Although, I sorta felt that the show should have come to an end after the G'ould/replicator ark came to an end. The Orai thing just doesn't really cut it for me, unfortunately. That would have been the good grounds for a new spin off, or a good super villian for atlantis. :) Just my opinion.

I sorta look at The SG series as like, the new Star Trek. SG1 = the original (and Richard will remain a god  ), Atlantis = Next Generation. ;) I mean, they're already doing the spaceship thing. They have shields and warp'ish tech. Oh! And they make vuege jokes at their own expence that link themselves to being star trek fans. :P

Dig it!

If you see a fair amount of Canadian actors showing in some of these shows plus the crews being Canadian it's likely due to them being shot in Canada. I think with X-Files was the first I started hearing about a show being made in Canada because it was cheaper to shoot the show there than anywhere in the US.

Oh Canada. Our dramas really make you snore.

Ok as for why so many American shows have Canadian actors.

Canada and the CBC provide excellent opertunities for young Canadians to learn how to act. Since most of Canadian content television is character driven dramas where even the minor characters get speaking parts and since CBC productions tend to draw upon the same acting talent over and over. Canadian actors have the time to develop acting skills. That coupled with Canadians general tendency to be easy to work with makes them desirable.

Now since most Canadian dramas are set in the 1800's Are centered around the adventures of preteen school girls, living in rural Maritime provinces, while being better mannered and educated than Oxford Scholars. Well suffice to say most of Canada watches the hockey game or American shows instead. But if we could watch Canadian television and stay awake we'd be darn proud of our Actors skills.
