ok so about 45 minutes ago, i get hungry. ooh instant rice, how hard can it be? mix rice and water in a bowl, microwave for 5 minutes on high, microwave another 20 minutes on medium. hmm, thats kinda long, but whatever. i go out side and smoke two cigarettes, i come back inside, my entire house smells like burnt popcorn, and i open the microwave and black smoke bellows out and theres this burnt rice paddy with red melted plastic all around it. takes me 10 minutes to get all of that nasty stuff cleaned up and here i am, still very hungry.

Hmm ... it only takes like 20mins to boil it the old fashion way

So if it did say 20mins, then I am not so sure it's instant LOL.

Okay dude, I have you beat...

One day I have a bunch of rice and cor sitting around and I think "fuck, I'm going to just cook this", and I begin cooking and forget all about it... some 30 miuntes later, the entire house is covered in smoke, burnt rice stuck to the pot, to the stove, and burn corn with the rice...

Did something similar the other day.

Put chicken tenders in the oven and sat back down at my PC. Was talkin' to Veld and others in game, and an hour and a half later I say... 'BURNING FOOD! SHIT!" And dart to my oven. Turn it off, open it up, and well...the chicken tenders were less than tender.

What is all this with the cooking and the sticking things in ovens? That's what other people are for.

I have started boiling water for ramen.
But then, totally forgot that I had water on the stove.
Eventually, as an odd scent filled the place, I raced back to find I had left the pot on the burner, now totally void of moisture. The whole thing, handle and all, was hot as hell. I needed an oven mit to get the pot (by the handle) over to the sink and cool it.

I've done that a few times.

I am forbidden from boiling eggs when I'm working on design / illusration work.

I tend to get deeply involved and oblivious to time.

For such a small object, they make an impressive boom.








(You'd think I'd have learnt this fifth time round...)

This is why you bring two alarmclocks, set to whatever time it's supposed to take to took the stuff, with you to the computer. So in case you ignore the first one, you will always have a backup.

And if you ignore the second one, well, then I guess you could care less about the outcome of the food
