I recently got QUITE suprised, when playing Lineage2, and entered a town, hearing THIS:

My initial reaction wandering the world of lineage, is its at least got the best mmo music ive ever heard at least.
(it too got the most ebaying ive ever seen, exept from EVE, who is so ebayed its maaadening).

wow I like that alot! Especially the subtle but still distinct guitar at the end

I've heard a few in other MMOs that were very lovely as well:
-The recent login screen for Guildwars is very soothing
-And there's a piece from the ingenious Dark Age ambient music that I just had to string together. It's been my PC's startup music for years. I would park my character at night and just fall asleep to it.

EDIT: oh yah, I'm not sure if they've changed the background music since the beta, but if you listen to the media from the Lineage 2 folder, you'll here several more beautiful scores. Other than a couple of screenshots, their music was the only thing I saved.

My favorite game music piece was the Sephiroth theme from Final Fantasy Seven. I used to wander into the attic to watch my brother play just to listen to that song.

i like the music in the console game Manhunt, if you havent played it either you are too young, or didnt have the stomach for it but it had great music imo

Kingdom hearts... The theme song... I used to leave the console on, in the game selection menu so I could listen to it while reading, or going to bed... ^^

Though it is more sort of ambiance the music for Rome in AO is nice. I'll have to sit and think more about other games and pick the one that stands out the most for me...though I must say the Zelda theme is always a classic.

Hmm, this is a toughy. I used to be (Wait, I still AM! HAH!) such a fangirl of FF7 that I'd bet on that at the drop of a hat. But I suppose it really depends on my mood or what I'm doing.

I forget what it was, but a long while back, I assembled all the Resident Evil soundtracks (1, 2, 3, Code Veronica) , and plucked out the quality tracks, and made a "CD of Terror" mix. ^_^ I think I tossed in some Silent Hill for filler.

I later did a similar thing with Xenogears and ff7 and 8. Later I stopped dealing in video game tracks. Sooo... yeah. That's my story and I'm stickin' too it!

The First Halo definately had an epic feel to the theme song, and even if it is overhyped nowadays it still has a place in my mind for one of the best game songtracks.

Recently I bought the prey album which has a somewhat good album in the whole, but it's the first song which really shines through, with native american instrument and nature sounds leading up to a orchestral epic piece - http://media.pc.ign.com/articles/704/704724/vids_1.html


And I agree, lineage II has the best MMO music yet. I wish they'd put together a consise list of all the music they use, and let us get it for free/buy it.

i think when it comes to ao....the subway definately has the best music, but in no way does it compare to l2

The Resident Evil music was really good at creating some tension, it helped make a dark hall seem like some sort oh hell, then just hearing the zombie's moans and creaping over that was nice. Resident Evil holds a special place in my heart.

I happen to like the opening song for Legend of Dragoon. Then theres Lunar, and Legend of Legaia, kick ass music.
