0.o......Holy Sh!t the Army is a bunch of complaining bastards!! Who cares if you have to clean up where you live/work. When you are in the junior ranks, that's just part of your job. When you get into the more senior ranks, you are the one supervising. Wow.....they had to pick up brass after they shot in the rifle range....that takes all of 30 seconds to do. OMG....A lawnmower??? NOOOooooo.... What's this thing called a "broom"....I didn't sign up for this! I signed up to get paid A LOT of money to do nothing but sit on my ass and complain!!

being in the canadian army been there done that!!! lol but you have to admit at least your learn a couple of skillz for when you leave like landscaping and being a janitor open your eyes lol But the main reason why they make u do those things is to keep cost down of course lol but to make sure your paying attention to detail like say if you were on a mission are you going to leave your garbage around so the enemy can track you of course not well not the canadian army cause we pay attention to detail lol that is all i got to say about it but yes it was a funneh video lol

Having done my own military service I can say yep, that's what you do in the army. Everywhere. "One private equals ten janitors!" they said...

Okay, so they have to bag leaves from the ground, but say HEY if you had a house party, then you would be able to do that in a few times flat, so phhht!

Wow, I had to sweep down the floor, and mop it! Wow, well you know if you had a girl over and the both of you tore everything up in the house before your wife got home, your already trained to do this stat!

Oh wow, I had to pick up brass from the floor after I finished shooting. Well, you know... this can be very fucking helpful.... when you know... you miss and all...

I loved this vid. I see the military ads all the time, and occationally in AO even. You gotta admit the contrast between what is advertised and what the reality happens to be is mighty amusing.

I've got some friends that enlisted back in the Clinton administration. (Wow, that sounded really OLD of me. I measured time by presidential terms! )

They got released from the army/marines a year after 9/11. Neither of them (that I have in mind) joined the military out of patriotic sense of duty. It was peace time, and they needed money for whatever. Collage, family and the wife.

One day, alot of the friends got together to catch a movie. Somehow the army got brought up, and I mentioned to the Marine, "At least now you know how to totally kick ass, huh!" His reponce was, "Not really. Almost my whole term I was raking, and sweeping. Standing around. I think I went to the firing range maybe once or twice in two weeks."

As it turned out, shortly after 9/11, they stepped up the training. The marine got training in some "special equipment", a pay raise, and the chance to be called into hotzones between then and sometime in 2005.

But yeah. I e-mailed this to him. I think hey will enjoy the irony.

I'm in the Marine Corps and totally depends on what job you have. If you are cook or in admin, obviously you won't be trained as much as someone in Infantry or Recon. But yes, as of late, we have stepped up our training in all occupation fields. One thing that makes Marines the best is that EVERY Marine is a Basic Rifleman. The Army learned their lesson these passed couple of years over in Iraq because some of their non-infantry types were in a convoy headed through a "non-hostile" area and got ambushed. All of them had no idea how to use their weapons and most were killed and a couple taken prisoner. Jessica Lynch was one of those people taken hostage.
A couple weeks after that happened to the Army, same thing happened to a bunch of non-infantry type Marines (They were journalists and a couple of Band guys). They were in humvees and they fought their way out, despise getting shot a couple of times.
Since then, the army has now adopted our doctrine of "Every Marine is a Rifleman".

wow america catching up to canada since we dont have the man power like u americans do we always have had our soldier basic rifle man for like at least 20 yrs now since of cut backs i now am considering how too basic we are now but thats another topic i always thought usa army was similar just makes me realize how different they are lol but i always keep my sling shot in my back pocket

Our motto "Every Marine is a Rifleman" has been that for 226 years now, so it's nothing new to us. It just took the army that long to realise it.

We never went through more than basic training for Infantryman while in the airforce here in Norway. Which makes sense, because if it would have come to a situation where I had to actually use my AG3, I would already be dead and buried since I would most likely be in the hardened aircraft-shelter prepping aircraft when the attack came.

Of course, I'd like to see any hostile aircraft managing to get past the NASAMS, though *grins*
