Ok, This is going to really affect GSP show attendance as well as getting to and from shows!!

Qoute:

Political and Military Changes on Rubi-Ka
- Omni-Tek Security forces have moved into Borealis. Clan citizens should be aware they risk attack anywhere within the city limits now. (Read More)
o NOTE: Clan characters saved in Borealis have been moved to a safe location

o There are new recruiters in and around Borealis who new players can use to join both Omni-Tek or the clans
- Vanguard forces have extended their protective patrols to include West Athen as well as the city itself. (Read More)
- The Unionist Clan has seized control of the 4 Holes mining outpost. Omni-Tek employees should be warned that they will be attacked on sight (Read More)
- Miiir have opened a new branch in Newland City

It does look like a lot more shows locked in Reets from now on... :(

From what I've seen of this, you could be right, while there are still a few places in Borealis that would be 'safe' it would be too easy for some spoilsport to train the unicorn specialists upon us..

Basically, no more parties on the streets of borealis.

hmmm...

There's always ICC? Or you might find people looking for twinks and stuff start congregating in Newland, and that it becomes the new Borealis?

(I'm just all excited about a neutral MIR shop 8) I know, I'm sad...)

Borealis is also the easiest way to get to Reet's retreat.. now (if you are clan) you need to find a player city or run from WA... then there is getting back out of reets again... OUCH

Oh and Unicorns really do hurt! On Dynamiks (level 161 Fixer)
Unicorn Squadleader hit you for 2176 points of poison damage.
Your damage shield hit Unicorn Squadleader for 9 points of damage.
Unicorn Squadleader hit you for 6919 points of melee damage.

I can see the majority of shows being done from Newland/Neuters/ICC from now on...
Social clothing quests just got a whole heap harder too...

A sad day for the partiers of Rubi Ka...

Well I will miss the Bori shows. But I know I used to manage to skip through the whompas when Newland was hostile clan territory, so I figured I would still be able to do that now. However, I hadn't considered this:

Myz, not so sad, I thought the same thing. :)

All things considered, I wont miss Borealis too badly at all. I mean, I will miss it... but Im so excited about seeing change to the game, I can deal with it.

If they continue to do this sort of thing on a regular basis, city control being move from faction to faction, it will feel more like we're actually a part of the game to me. No more, "Next week, we'll be here at ******" But instead basing our shows around the current political tide of the world.

Hell yeah! Now go blow up someones towers, and get control of Borealis back!

I'm with Suue on this one. Change is a grea thing and makes me feel like we are part of a rebel radio station that has to go from one place to another to aviod getting shot!

I'll miss parties on the Bor streets, but hopefully this will bring some life back to other cities like Tir and Newland.
I'd like it to be as easy as possible for folks, especially new listeners and lowbies, to get to our shows, so maybe we'll just have to work out some easy alternate routes. If we're really stuck, we can always enlist some engy help to 'port folks in.

You know me though, if there's a possiblity of getting shot/stabbed on the way to the show, or even at the show, I'm in my element

Also, there are always the Bor backyards. There are no guards in the backyard, and BY6 is a short run from the whompas (and my apartment is there, complete with a bar, party lights and a killer sound system ;) )

We'll just have to get creative.

***edit***
The regular Bor whompas are crawling with guards, so that's a no-go.

would be nice if they left one city that was rp friendly

Only thing with that statement, Ceryn, is that RP isn't just limited to the socialites amongst us. There are some hardcore RP'ers who will love this change of events. It makes sense from a game perspective that tensions between rival factions would contain some actual tension.

What I don't like is that I'm a slow zoner, so if guards are all over the whompas chances are I won't be able to skip through without being hit, even using my yalm. But, hey, that's what engies are for, right? :)

Or, don't make changes, people get bored and leave and the game dies.

Back in the day, the same was said when Newland was cutt off and occupied by anti-clanner occupants, this was also during a time when Newland was what current day Boralis is - or not far from it. Yet still the community ran with it, and it helped formed what the current day CoT is (along with a slew of other factors.)

For us social party folks, I've been meaning to do shows in other locations (note emphasis on the word show and not parties). Just because Boralis is lost, there are still plenty of other places that can be revived!

VIVA NEWLAND!!!

(also I hope this cuts down on the Borialis lag!)

very true, a change can always be a good thing. Just would have liked more warning

It's seems a bit cheap though that they essentially did what they did to make us not mind this as much. I can see the ideas "They won't like these guards being thrust on their city, unless we open the city up to gankers for a week first, then they'll welcome them"

This from my stance as a Neutral. I don't like people messing with my city or cities. Didn't like the change back in the day when it was Newland either.

Not having to use a sided alt for Miir though, very nice thing at least.

And it's longer but there will still be a safe path to Reets Retreat guys

Whompa Newland City>Newland Desert>Hope>Stret West Bank
besides the hundred AI city whompas direct to it's door

With regards to problems getting to Reets without passing through Borealis: I never know gas levels en route, but is there any reason why people can't just wompah Newland -> Newland dessert -> Hope -> Stret West? It's only really one extra jump... and if the DJ's drop the route in every so often on air and dancers can back that up with directions for the slow of hearing, I wouldn't have thought it would prevent even complete newbs still making it easily to Reets shows at least...

(Course I may be missing something really obvious here - I tend to live, eat and sleep at Reets so travel means little to me... what are those big bright lights in the sky again?)
