I come here to warn you about and up and coming danger int he world of rubi-ka. This "damage dump" program. It is a dangerous dandgeous program. Who ever created it needs a good cock punch. I have warned expect to see damage dump every five seconds. The only way people are going to be able is to get off is if they are at the top of the list.

Head my warning now Rubi-ka. Kill this damage dump before it gets out of hand.

damage dump? someone fill me in, i havent played ao in about 10 days

little app that monitors damage done by people in a team, allows people to see who is doing the most damage etc. Obv helps if
a. people don't spam it every five seconds,
b. don't make life altering decisions, like which boxers to wear, based on it's results,
c. understand it' not that big a deal, whoopdi freaking doo Mr Keeper 4 levels higher than me did 100k more damage... or woot i pwned that lvl 220 doc that one time... nevermind the fact that he was healing...

People don't seem to use those scripts as much when they're not #1...

I run DD occasionally, for me it's a tool to gage how i'm doing in a team.

But there are some ppl that live and die for it and that's stupid, there are professions ment to outdamage others.

Ok, on the extremely rare occasion that I actually kill something, I do it solo. But I'm just curious, if you're in a team...well that woud be a team: a group of people working together for a common goal. Correct? Generally teams are made of groups of different profs because everyone has their specific role. At least that's my understanding. So unless everyone on your team is the same prof and same race, then it seems to me that the damage dump isn't really that good of a gage. For example, I might want to know how much damage I do with fists and attacks as oppesed to how much an MA of my same level does by adding claws (or whatever MA weapons are out there, I haven't looked into it in years). But otherwise, I don't see the point of it.

But then as someone who almost exclusively solos I might be missing the point. Anyone?

(unrelated note, and I'm putting this here because I'm too lazy to start a new thread. Last night I saved at Hope and I saved 32 xp. I couldn't figure out where on rubi-ka I got 32 points. Then I remembered that when I went to the BY's looking for social items for our party, I actually killed a few critters along the way just 'cause I could. Go me! )

Damage Dump does have its uses. On my keeper I used it to deside which of two weapons did the most damage. Yeah, I probably could have figured it out somehow but why get the headache when a program does it for you?

Overall I don't see the use of it on a regular basis other then for twinks to boast about how uber they are compaired to me. I really don't care. I'm not spending millions on implants I'll be out of in a week.

If someone dropped you from a group for not doing enough damage then they are asses and don't deserve the help. I don't see DD becoming that big of a problem overall though. Most people wouldn't kick someone out of a team just because they aren't at the high end of the damage range. Yes, there will always be those ass hats that will but do we really want to be teaming with them anyway?

Does it make me incredibly childish that when I read "damage dump" I instantly imagine a painfully embarrassing medical condition? I mean, is nobody else picturing cracked and shattered porcelain?

I've actually heard of people on a team kicking the lowest person on the damage dump.

That's a good thing. Because it lets people know who the two-digit-IQ children are that you don't want to be teamed with anyway.

ok that's just silly since it's usually the doctor coming last in damage.

Bah! Noone needs a program to tell Im doing less damage in a group, usually for one of the following three reasons: 1) Im digging around in my backpack to see what I want to wear to the next party. 2) Away from keyboard, usually fixing another drink 3) In tells with Tarryk, letting him know how well my Toon is doing, and explaining to him all the important things my Toon will be doing next!

Nah, Suue's no fun in the "toon vs avvie" debate, he's made it clear that he only uses the word just to piss me off, so it no longer works on me. However...

Dude, I hate that....so....freaking....much..... Never, EVER do that to me.

You know, I've always thought that DD was useful for one reason, when you would attack in solo missions, it would help you gauge how much damage your doing and how to better help your damage potential if you feel that your lackingi n that departmnet...

I typically avoid that fate by not attacking, thus not appearing on the list at all.

I'll tell you waht pisses me off to no end (what little I do experiance in AO when I do play)... all this FTW crap. You can descrinimate with your tools all you want, but one single "ftw" and I'm calling in to have the supression levels dropped.

(also hearing avatars refered to as "toons" was up there pretty high too... but that was covered in another thread. ^_^)
